Read onlyI own a manufacturing company and am trying to list one of my products on Amazon. There is a barcode on the product which is one can and a separate barcode for a case of 6. Another seller has entered my barcode for the single can in Amazon as a case of 6 and also used the wrong company name. So now when I'm trying to list my product, it's telling me that the barcode is for a case of 6 when I'm only selling by single cans and because my barcode is now attached to the incorrect company name, I have to use it. How do I fix this?? How can they tell me I'm using MY barcode incorrectly when I submitted bank statements proving I own the company/brand?
First, there is the easy way and the hard way to correct the problem, but do you know why it happens?
20 years ago, Amazon didn't care about Barcodes and sellers either bought them from scalpers or simply made them up. Today, Amazon cares any will only accept official GS1 UPC's. But the problem remains. Amazon will not discard the bogus UPC's, they are just grandfathered in, until you come along with the real one.
Hard way to correct. Open a case with seller support and go into an endless loop of no resolution.
Easy way to correct. Send a copy of your GS1 documentation to Amazon legal office in Seattle in a well-crafted letter, by certified mail. Give the Bogus ASIN and ask for it to be removed. They can correct the problem within an hour.
Hi there @Seller_6EqzdUU6UHN1u,
I'm sorry it has been difficult to get your Barcode Corrected. If you have not had this issue resolved can you please provide recent Seller Support Case? I'll review and see what escalation options I can offer. Thank you for your understanding.
