Product compliance- Diaper bag
I would like to sell a diaper bag with my own brand on Amazon US but I am struggling to find the testing requirements and standards I need to meet. Is it considered a baby product or not? Could someone please help me?

Odd, took me all of 30 seconds....of course these are SELLING requirements, you'll need to look up import requirements yourself. HINT: Try "import requirements for diaper bags" in google search
Diaper bags do not require mandatory Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) testing if they are classified as general-use adult products.
However, if your bag contains a built-in infant changing pad, travel bassinet, or utilizes detachable children's toy accessories, it must undergo third-party testing and meet strict safety standards.
When Testing is Mandatory.
If your diaper bag features an infant care component or changing area, it falls under the CPSC's classification of a "durable infant or toddler product". You must use a CPSC-Accepted Laboratory to test for the following:
Total Lead Content: Surface coatings must not exceed \(\le 90\) parts per million (ppm) and substrate materials must not exceed \(\le 100\) ppm.Phthalates: Limits apply to certain plastics and soft components.
Small Parts & Choking Hazards: Products intended for children under 3 years old must not contain or liberate small parts after rigorous use-and-abuse testing.Baby Changing Products Standard: Products must comply with performance standards for structural integrity, stability, and barriers outlined in ASTM F2388.
Flammability: Exposed textiles must meet standard flammability requirements for clothing textiles.Required Documentation
If testing is required, you must issue a Children's Product Certificate (CPC) and ensure your products have permanent tracking labels that include the manufacturer name, date, and batch number.General Use Diaper
Bags
Standard adult-carried diaper bags only intended for carrying diapers, bottles, and wipes are generally exempt from CPSIA children's product testing. Manufacturers usually issue a General Certificate of Conformity (GCC) stating that they do not contain restricted chemicals and are safe for general consumer use.

Yes, diaper bags sold on Amazon require testing, especially if they are marketed for children or contain features like built-in changing pads. Because it is a baby and children's product, Amazon’s automated filters will likely flag it as a children’s product.
Key Requirements
Third-Party Lab Testing: You must provide test reports from a CPSC-Accepted Laboratory showing the bag meets federal safety standards (e.g., total lead content and limits on phthalates).
Children's Product Certificate (CPC): Once tested, you must draft a CPC stating the product complies with all applicable safety rules.
AMZ will probably ask you to provide these things when yo want to list
The Children's Product Certificate (CPC).
The Test Reports from an approved lab.
Clear product and packaging images showing all sides, warning labels, and tracking labels.
Keep in mind that YOU are putting the CPC out, so YOU will be responsible if anything goes wrong. So that's a lot to do to sell a diaper bag, but of course that's up to you.

Hi @Seller_kj5fROmBldcXy,
Thank you for reaching out to us.
The other sellers have given great answers already!
Here are a few additional tips:
1. How to determine if your diaper bag is a "children's product"
- Under 16 CFR Part 1200, a "children's product" is defined as one "designed or intended primarily for children 12 years of age or younger." The CPSC uses four factors to make this determination:
- Manufacturer's statement – What does your labeling/marketing say about the intended user?
- Packaging, display, promotion, or advertising – Is it represented as appropriate for use by children 12 and under?
- Consumer recognition – Would a reasonable consumer look at the product and assume it's for a child?
- CPSC Age Determination Guidelines – The Commission's staff guidelines on typical use patterns by age group.
- If your bag has features like a built-in changing pad, bassinet, or toy attachments for the child to interact with, it could cross into children's product territory.
2. What you'll need depending on classification
- General-use product → GCC (General Certificate of Conformity) + test report from an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited lab
- Children's product → CPC (Children's Product Certificate) + test report from a CPSC-accepted lab + tracking labels
