Almost No Sales!

Hi everyone!

Needing some advice or possible explanation to help me understand why I'm not getting any sales like I used to. Keep in mind, I am very new to selling on Amazon, as I just launched my first product back in February. Currently I'm selling as an Individual Account since I wanted to see if I could make that style work before investing into a Professional Account. When I launched my product (selling FBA), I didn't have a ton of sales, but pretty consistently had one or two sales a day. It's not much, but it was passive income and great for learning how things work on this platform.

About a two months ago, after selling through nearly half my stock, I noticed the sales were almost non-existent. Now in August, I'm lucky if I get one sale every other week. Can anyone explain to me why I went from having consistent sales every day to MAYBE one every other week? It seems so random that the sales just stopped out of nowhere. I only have one review but that single review is five stars so I don't think that's hurting me. It's just frustrating when everything appeared to be working and trending upward just to stop out of nowhere. I'm not getting any assistance from the information that Amazon provides either.

Any words of wisdom would be appreciated. I really want Amazon to work as passive income for me and my family, but right now I can't seem to find a way to make sense of the sudden stoppage in sales or how to get the sales moving again.

Thanks!

Unless you are selling summer specific items, July and August are among the slowest time of the year.

Add to that the Olympics keeping people busy doing something other than buying, and the craziness that comes every election cycle, and being much slower than a few months ago is to be expected.

Hang in there. If you have good products at good prices, sales will pick up in a few weeks.

This could be a problem. You need to stay atop of your account, tracking product sales, and always looking for new products to replace the ones that lose popularity. If you treat it only as "passive" income, you'll likely keep making some sales, but will never grow. Not that you have to obsess over it, but you will need to put in some work. Reading the forums is a good start.

I seem to be going through the same draught as you and what everyone else has been talking about. I too, just started selling on Amazon in the beginning of the year, and orders started skyrocketing in April-May. My stock dwindled down to almost nothing, and I have been working hard at getting all my items replenished for FBA, all while having a large amount of stock at home, waiting to send in when it gets low again. About 2 months ago, sales plundered and I have been getting a minimum of 2 orders per day during the week, and up to 10 on the weekends.

As far as reading the forums, I try to do my part, but it's hard getting through all the negativity (even though I understand horrible decisions are being made up top). Pages keep changing, and I find it difficult to maneuver around to find the information I am looking for.

Hopefully things will pick back up, we will see what the future holds.

I'm also a new seller, and I'm experiencing the same problem as you: since late July, my sales have also been low and unstable, sometimes even 0 sales for the whole day. I did some optimization, but it didn't change any more. A few days ago, I had to cut down on my advertising investment in order to avoid a bigger loss.

I heard some old sellers say that it's the off-season for sales after the Prime Day, and I don't know if it's true and when my sales will be back.

However, for new sellers, the experience of selling on Amazon is better than any other platform.

Have you identified your most important keywords? Are your images good? Have you tested variations of your images? Have you worked on your ad campaigns to get impressions? What is your Average Cost of Sales (ACOS) and what is your break even ACOS? How is your conversion rate compared to your competition? What is your ranking (placement in the search) for your most important keywords?

Many of our better selling regular items have been PRICE SUPPRESSED getting those high pricing errors with Amazon deleting years of sales data and setting new limits so low it has forced us to shifted 100's of items this month alone to other platforms. Amazon forcing prices lower on sellers items to try and drive sales for their platform is wrong if anyones prices are high and need to be lowered it needs to be items sold by Amazon.

my sales always nosedived in the summer....around July 1 being the slowest....that was when I was selling media items (CDs, DVDs, etc.) and toys. Xmas sales were always great.

Once Amazon started crushing media sellers, I switched to summer party supplies...now my SUMMER is the peak while the xmas season is the same as the rest of the year....

Amazon does a great job a suppressing selling accounts and listings favoring certain accounts over others. FBA will get precedence over FBM as Amazon makes more money off of FBA sellers because the fees are higher. This isn't best for the customer as the customer will many time be paying a higher price than a competitor but it is best for this monopoly-Amazon.

What categories and products are you selling? If you provided an example of an Amazon link to look at would be able to give you a better idea.

I agree with others that this is a slow time of year. And I think the Olympics probably adds to the slowdown. Our sales had been fairly even through June, then July jumped up about 20%. But since the Games started sales have fallen to the lowest of the year, other than a good day here and there.

I didn't read all of the replies, so sorry if I'm repeating. I can't remember, but with a personal account are your listings Buy Box eligible. If not that will really cut your sales.

Hi @Seller_w7Kq3pbYLs8wM

I agree with many sellers' comments - summer can be a slower period. However, a passive approach is unlikely to sustain growth. Proactively monitoring sales and adding new products will help prevent stagnation or decline from new competition. While a passive business model is viable, consistent effort is required for long-term success.

Thanks for posting to the forums. Susan

Stay on top of your competition adjust pricing accordingly and keep items fresh. August is slow with many on holiday, also the economy is slowing with high inflation and many don't have Discretionary income.
