What worked best for me during the holidays was cutting all low-performing keywords and pushing budget only into branded and top-converting exact match keywords. I also raised prices slightly once demand picked up instead of discounting. This improved profit per unit while maintaining sales volume during peak season.

Don't put all your eggs in one platform basket. The platform might end up delisting hundreds of items for no reason. Then require each one be relisted individually after clicking on several buttons to gain approval for a product which had already been granted approval to sell.

Support people will not listen to the issue, instead tell you that you need to get invoices for your used books and LPs, as if any seller on the platform has invoices for used records, or permission from record label/artist.

Amazon used to be a great vehicle for a small book seller, but they do not seem to want small sellers anymore.

I will take my gift card now. You are welcome.

We begin preparing for the holiday season in July, evaluating and ordering inventory. In September we begin optimizing listings, updating keywords and listing photos to reflect the season so that they are ready at the start of the season in October. We use discounts during the holiday season to boost sales on most of our products and then return to higher prices later in the season to boost profits. We do not discount our biggest winter sellers because the holiday drive in Amazon traffic is enough to boost sales for these high demand products.

In my experience selling on Amazon, one of the biggest keys to a successful holiday season is being well prepared with sufficient inventory and strong cash flow management. This preparation allows you to create attractive offers, meet customer demand, and scale sales with confidence.

The holiday season is a special time not only to grow your business, but also to bring joy to customers through meaningful and timely purchases. When you stay organized and embrace the process, selling during this season becomes both rewarding and fulfilling. Reflecting on these moments reminds me how far I’ve come in my selling journey and motivates me to keep growing each year.

I find other platforms don't encourage fraud, don't assume the buyer is always right even when they clearly aren't, won't pull any surprises on you (including violating their own policies), and have reasonable return windows and terms.

The storage fees in Oct-Dec will eat you alive. Just in time delivery saved us a lot in storage fees. Amazon is implementing new fees in 2026 to prevent this.

My biggest tip is to have all your inventory ready ahead of the holiday rush. I sell handmade goods, and so I estimate how much material I'll need ahead of time on hand. I can't always count on the supply chain to get me my materials on time within the last couple of weeks before Christmas.
