Sale of mouth tape no longer permitted, effective July 31

by News_Amazon

Starting July 31, 2023, mouth tape, also known as sleep tape, will no longer be permitted for sale on Amazon.

Customers who use mouth tape while sleeping face potential risks, such as an allergic reaction and obstructed breathing. For the safety of Amazon customers, any mouth tape product listings will be removed from our store.

If you believe that your product has been incorrectly classified as mouth tape, send the following information to highrisk-childsafety@amazon.com:

  • A list of the ASINs that you believe have been misclassified
  • The reason why you believe the ASINs have been misclassified
  • Evidence that demonstrates that the ASINs have been misclassified

For more information, go to Mouth tape.

It is amazing all the things that "are a thing" that I am unaware of. I have never heard of mouth taping until just now. There are real possibilities of dying doing this (acid reflux can get in your lungs, nasal passages can clog and you can suffocate, etc.) It almost sounds like a Tik-Tok challenge!! Unbelievable!

So glad to be "protected" by a corporate giant like Amazon! It is not like the medical profession is doing a good job.

I wonder how many non-medical experts will be attempting to protect me by the time I finally use the dangerous product that kills me.

Nobody tell Amazon that regular tape poses the same "risks".

I too have never heard of this product.

I understand that snoring is a real problem for a couple, but still, I really can't even imagine someone believing that taping your mouth shut while you sleep is any kind of a good idea.

I find that usually excessive snoring is either the wrong pillow being used OR a result of excessive weight of the person snoring (Sleep Apnia). To fix the first one, try different pillows until the proper angle of your head is reached to reduce or eliminate the problem. To fix the second one, either lose weight OR get a C-PAP machine.

I guess all the kidnappers will have to go back to Duct Tape, huh?

Hopefully this won’t be another “pesticide” debacle.
