📦 🚚 Drop Shipping on Amazon: Let's Clear the Air!

Hey Amazon sellers!

One of the most frequently discussed topics in our community is drop shipping - and for good reason! While it can be an attractive way to scale your business, understanding Amazon's policies is crucial to protect your selling privileges and maintain customer trust.

Before we dive into the specifics, let's address why this matters: improper drop shipping practices can lead to account suspension, negative customer experiences, and potential legal issues. Getting it right from the start is essential for your business's long-term success.

What exactly is drop shipping on Amazon? It's when you use a third party to fulfill orders directly to customers. Here's the key thing to remember: this is only allowed when you're clearly identified as the seller of record.

✅ The Right Way to Drop Ship:

When using a third-party fulfillment service, always ensure:

  • You're the only seller identified on all packaging, invoices, and documentation
  • Your business removes or replaces any third-party identifying information before shipping
  • You handle all customer returns and comply with Amazon's policies
  • You maintain full responsibility as outlined in the Business Solutions Agreement (BSA)

❌ What's Not Allowed:

  • Purchasing products from another seller (including Amazon) and having them ship directly to customers
  • Allowing third-party supplier information to appear on any customer-facing materials
  • Using packing slips or invoices with anyone else's business name or contact details

Hello Bryce_Amazon

"Have experience with compliant drop shipping? Share your insights below! Your experience could help fellow sellers avoid common pitfalls and build sustainable businesses."

When do you think you will reply to SELLC and KCPET's comments on your post? I think they have very valid issues that relate to your post.

Warm regards

Bad Experiences with Drop Shippers. We receive an order to ship to someone else. (Gift?). Then 2-3 weeks go by then Order Not Received (INF). Immediate refund. We sell used/out-of-print books. Easy for 'Sellers' with NO INVENTORY to list books; then purchase it from elsewhere and Drop Ship. Amazon has removed many such bogus book sellers but they're still out there. If we have made a mistake (almost never) and no longer have the book, we DO NOT buy another copy from elsewhere. We take the hit.

Would like to have a comment from BookwormApril (?) on this issue. She knows her stuff.

Most of of our abusive returns are from businesses drop shipping using shipping service always returning claiming Wrong, Late or Defective and then items come back they are correct orders just heavily worn repacked and sometimes with Amazon Ca. shipping labels attached directly to the item tuning item and Amazon looks away and ignores the issue as these drop shippers make lots of transaction fees which Amazon profits on.

.

It is easy to identify these drop shippers and if you do not want the costs and abuse that comes with these transactions it is always bet to take the hit and cancel!

Exactly, the only one allowed to drop ship from another seller is AMAZON. This is a monopoly, and if you don't like it you can go somewhere else. If you complain too much AMAZON will make up a new rule, like safety testing of products that are sold in stores.

Amazon is not a good platform for new people they give so much hard time. I had very bad experience working with Amazon. They De-activate my store of a false drop shipping issue. I have gave them so many proof that I was not doing drop shipping. All orders were coming to my place and I repacking them buying labels shipping them.

1 -Picture of merchandise shipping

2 - Order slip with shipping address of my place.

3 - CCTV video (They not even like to review) it.

4 - Create a POA for them, they did not accept it.

After all the hard effort I added in my store from January 2026 - March 2026 all waste.

I uploaded 25 minutes of CCTV video on you tube and they don't review it

Big whole seller don't give small investors to buy from them, we contact they refer you sub wholesale for their products, and good part is Amazon don't accept them and force you to buy from manufactures.

Really waste of time.

Can we separate the terms "Drop Ship" and "Third Party Fulfillment?" That would really clear the air. I think what most people consider to be "Drop Shipping" is taking an order for an item, and then placing that order with someone else and having it shipped to the other customer, whereas Third Party Fulfillment is generally considered to be your inventory you already own is hosted somewhere else and when you receive an order you ship it out of that third party location.

Under these definitions, "Drop Shipping" would be not allowed entirely.
