USPS Tracking says delivered, customer says they never got it

Hey guys,
A package was delivered 2 days ago but today I get a “Where’s my stuff” message from the customer saying that USPS tracking says delivered but they never got it.

What exactly am I supposed to do now? Let the customer file an AZ claim? Will I win since the tracking says delivered?

Did you use amazon shipping? Was this an SFP order?

Contact USPS and ask them to start a delivery investigation and that you need a hard copy emailed to you.

Tell them that the customer is denying having received this package.

1.Contact your local post office and get the GPS location data and know for fact what is going on.

  1. If the data shows for fact its delivered using GPS location just ignore them and let it go to a-z.

  2. If for fact it actually was delivered to the wrong address refund immediately.

  3. If you are actually dealing with an activist buyer do not engage in dialog with them. That will just lead to more trouble.

You will not win an A-Z. USPS claims that the package was delivered. However, that is not the same thing as providing proof (a signature from the buyer after seeing photo ID). The law and Amazon’s TOS are not on your side. You have an obligation and are responsible for ensuring that the product is placed into the buyers hand and the burden of proof is on you.

Neither you nor the USPS know what really happened. Yes, the buyer could be pulling a fast one but that isn’t likely. What is more likely is that the product was delivered to an incorrect address, taken home with a postal worker or just discarded in the trash or even stolen off the recipients porch.

You really need to either issue a refund or reship the product.

I will never understand this kind of (buyer) mentality…unless you’re dealing with a scammer.

As a buyer, on any of the very few occasions when I’ve had a package tracked as “delivered” and I don’t have it, I…me…I…the buyer… will first ask my own delivery person about it! They supposedly delivered it, they supposedly scanned it as such!

That is always a buyer’s best option, as opposed to asking a total stranger about it, someone possibly many states away.

And when it happens to me as a seller, I carefully word that exact thought for my buyer, incorporating it into my “check with neighbors, household members, behind the bushes” missive.

Every seller should know how to handle this type of situation. Smaller details may vary from case-to-case, of course, but my first thought is always to work with the buyer to find the package! Plus, this further interaction with them can often prove enlightening as to judging the legitimacy of their INR claim.

i just want to say – as a buyer who has been here before , i had that same exact thing happen to me, on a $350 dollar package, turns out it was delivered to 4 BLOCKS away from me, and an 80 year old woman who lived there was on vacation at the time, she delivered the package 4 weeks later lol,it was a mess, but it does happen! USPS /UPS / Fedex drivers are not perfect and do make mistakes, usually if it goes to an AtoZ claim amazon will reimburse them from their side, and let you keep your funds in my experience
