Poly bag requirement for apparel already packaged in a box — outer box or item itself?

Hello,

I have a follow-up packaging question for an apparel product (wetsuit).

When setting the prep category to "Apparel, fabric, plush, and textiles", the system indicates a poly bag is required. Our product is already packaged in a rigid cardboard box (not a simple fold-over bag) – the wetsuit is folded and placed inside this box.

Could you clarify: does the poly bag requirement mean we need to place the entire closed box into a poly bag, or does it refer to the wetsuit itself being bagged before it goes into the box? Just want to make sure we're prepping this correctly before shipping.

Thank you for your help!

Best regards,

Berk

Ideally, the item is in a bag before it goes in the box but you can also put the box in a bag. Make sure you have a hazard warning on the bag.

You have to do this to protect against moisture and dust in the warehouse.

Softlines must be fully enclosed in packaging that protects against dust, dirt, and potential damage during receipt, stocking, and fulfillment at the warehouse.

Products that are not contained in a sealed, six-sided package or have an opening larger than 1 inch by 1 inch must be shrink-wrapped or placed in a sealed poly bag. If your product’s existing packaging does not fully enclose the product or could become compromised during handling, Amazon will add a bag with a suffocation warning for protection.
