Read onlyI have been reading everything I can get my hands on about the new OTDR calculations and I'll admit that I'm super confused! I just enabled the required automation settings to be eligible for "Buy Shipping Protection"...at least I think I'm protected!
Having the OTDR protection badge on the "buy shipping" page is so misleading. Why is it there if we aren't actually protected?
Thank you to the sellers who took the time to explain that there is no protection if the automated settings are disabled. I always ship on time and have never had any customers complain about their packages arriving early! (I'm personally THRILLED when items I order are received earlier than expected!) I don't understand Amazon's logic, as usual!!!
I'm just going to do my best and if my Amazon acct ends up deactivated, I guess it is what it is.
Selling on Amazon is utterly exhausting nowadays. I'm so tired of the nonsense. Just tired.
Hello @Seller_GG74u1SdeK6EC Thanks for checking in about the OTDR metric. We have shared seller feedback about the Buy Shipping information with our partner team and they are considering additional ways to display the full requirements for Buy Shipping protections.
In the meantime I recommend reviewing the following pages, as well as the mouseover information for the Claims Protected and OTDR Protected badges.
News & Announcements: New updates to our on-time delivery policy and shipping settings
Frequently asked questions about on-time delivery rate (OTDR)
The OTDR metrics/report are calculated based on the following: shipped units will be considered as OTDR compliant if either the delivery occurred on or before the “Deliver by” date shown on Seller Central, or the following three conditions were met:
Note: OTDR Protection is only available for units shipped through Standard Shipping, units shipped through other shipping options such as Free Economy, Standard Prime, or Premium Shipping, are not eligible for OTDR protection.

I have been reading a lot about OTDR rate being negatively impacted with an early delivery. I cannot believe that to be true. Amazon emails me to let me know an item I ordered from them is arriving earlier than expected. They are excited to let me know it. And having done this for 18 + years, it is never a bad thing from a customer standpoint. Can a MOD jump in and confirm one way or the other? Will a seller's OTDR be negatively impacted if an order they ship arrives earlier than Amazon calculated?
Note: OTDR Protection is only available for units shipped through Standard Shipping, units shipped through other shipping options such as Free Economy, Standard Prime, or Premium Shipping, are not eligible for OTDR protection.
Thank you for highlighting that important piece of information @Seller_mVDGl5FuduOjS
I included that information in the post and I will keep that in mind for any future discussions of OTDR Protection.
Why is that part not HIGHLIGHTED in all these post when its a huge important detail?
Because this is who Amazon is. They have a history of behaving in such a manner by using tactics similar to the "lying by omission" mechanism.
They tuck away important details in the fine print, they use ambiguous language, and they "hide" disclaimers, as in this case, in the smoke and mirrors of the hover-over. It absolutely presents a false impression.
I truly wish things like this weren't true, but, sadly, they are.
One doesn't have to go to India to know that! 🤣
(But thanks for the "link.")
