Read onlyHello fellow sellers and Amazon Moderators,
I recently encountered a situation and would appreciate your insights.
* Fulfillment Method: FBM
* Shipping Method: Amazon Buy Shipping (USPS)
* On-Time Shipping: Yes (Shipped within the required handling time)
* Delivery Status: USPS delivered the package 2 days late
* Outcome: Buyer requested a refund due to the delay, and I issued a full refund
* SAFE-T Claim: Denied
* Buyer Kept the Item: There was no return request from the buyer.
Since I used Buy Shipping and shipped on time, I expected some level of protection. However, despite the late delivery being due to USPS and not my handling, I had to refund the buyer. Additionally, my SAFE-T claim was denied, and the buyer kept the item because no return was requested.
My Questions:
1. Should I be eligible for any protection under Buy Shipping or On-Time-Delivery Rate (OTDR)?
2. What are Amazon’s criteria for approving SAFE-T claims in such cases?
3. Has anyone successfully disputed a similar case with Amazon?
4. Any best practices to avoid such losses in the future?
Looking forward to your experiences and advice. Thanks!
1. Do you have SSA and AHT active on your account? They, along with buy shipping are required for OTDR protection.
2. What are you filing a safety claim on? You refunded, there is no recourse to file a claim to my knowledge.
3. Did the USPS scan the order as accepted on or before the ship by date? If not, you lose.
Hello @Seller_NE3UNsc0AIfut Thanks for checking in with the forums about that shipment and about potential claims protections.
Amazon Buy Shipping protections
1. OTDR Protection: OTDR is not negatively impacted by late delivery if the order was shipped with an "OTDR Protected" badged shipping service in Amazon Buy Shipping, and Automated Handling Time (AHT) and Shipping Settings Automation (SSA) were active for that order.
You mention that AHT is not active, so the order is not OTDR Protected.
For more information, go to Frequently asked questions about on-time delivery rate (OTDR).
2. Claims Protection: It is required that the buyer was reimbursed by Amazon for not receiving their package for the order to be claims-protected.
In your first post you wrote "I had to refund the buyer" but later wrote "Amazon did the refund." How specifically was the buyer refunded?
