I've seen several posts about credit/debit card verification process and wanted to provide more insight on how the verification process works and explain common problems that lead to rejection of the verification.
Usually, it will take less than two minutes for us to verify your credit card. However, depending on your card issuer and network, it can take up to 48 hours for Amazon to update your seller account with any new credit or debit card information. Note that, in some instances, you may be redirected to your financial institution to verify your card with a security challenge before being redirected back to Amazon. A separate security challenge may be surfaced to verify that you are the card holder for each card you provide to Amazon, and for each store you would like to sell in.
***Note: If your credit or debit card fails the verification, you will see a banner in your seller account informing that a valid credit or debit card is needed in order for you to continue selling on Amazon. You will also receive an email after the verification failure. If your credit or debit card is listed as invalid, you will not be able to manage your listing, inventory, shipment, or receive disbursements from Amazon.
If there is a problem with your security verification, you can retry your verification by following the prompts in your Charge methods, and ensure that:

Note: A verification failure can occur on a card that has worked in the past if the card is close to or has passed its expiration date, or additional changes or restrictions are applied to the card by its financial institution or the card owner. For example, you might have updated your billing address, or your bank decided to not honor the usage of your card on Amazon. We recommend trying a different card or contacting your financial institution for assistance or visit your local branch, as they might be able to provide further details on the problem with your verification. Then try completing the process again.

We are facing the invalid credit card issue as well. Our business account is in Chase bank and we were using our company's VISA debit card for many years. We sell and purchase products in Amazon using the same visa debit card. Today, we received Amazon email stating "Invalid Charge Method. Your access to Seller Central is currently restricted due to an invalid charge method. Register a valid charge method for your seller account and restore full access to Seller Central by clicking 'Update Charge Method'. Please note that it can take up to 48 hours to validate your charge method after updating. For more information, visit our Help Pages."
We called our chase bank immediately to see if there is any problems, the chase bank rep. said there is no pending charge or transaction from Amazon.com at all. our visa debit card is valid and can be use worldwide. So, we went to Amazon.com to purchase dog food today and use the same credit card and it went through successfully for $62.72. Therefore, we went back to our seller account to update charge method again. Unfortunately, Amazon website pop up red box : Unable to charge............
We believe that the problem is from Amazon side NOT us. we are banking with the largest bank nationwide, if Chase bank has problem, 90% USA business will be collapsed.
Sometime Amazon is overreact for seller, most of the seller are doing small business in Amazon to support their life and family. When Amazon suddenly shut down the business, they can't survive anymore! most of the business owner has inventory debts and employee need to be paid. Please do think about seller's difficulty, when a company try to lay off people, company always give 30-60 day notice for the employee but Amazon did not even give seller notice at all.
