One of the most common error messages Amazon sellers come across is: 'The SKU for this product is unknown or cannot be found'. Today, we're going to dive deep the causes of this error and provide you with step-by-step troubleshooting tips to get your listing and shipments back on track.
The most common reason why this error message occurs is due to the listing being incomplete (whether it has not fully generated in our system or vital information is missing when listing the product).

If the error message seems to be shipment related (like the screenshot above) there are several ways to troubleshooting this error message:
1. Ensure the listing is converted to FBA and is appearing in the Manage FBA Inventory page.
The SKU requires time to get added to your inventory. The shortest time for your detail page to be created and inventory to come into view will be 15 minutes at a minimum and 24 hours at a maximum. You can still send these items to the fulfillment center without issue, however, please give the detail page time to refresh.
2. Ensure that the SKU-ASIN mapping is the same on Manage All Inventory and FBA Inventory pages.
3. Visit the Fix Your Products (FYP) page to fix the listing.
- Go to Manage Inventory page.
- Click Search Suppressed and Inactive Listings at the top in the Listing Tools section.
- Search for the appropriate SKU and follow the instructions.
If you need to re-create and/or convert the listing fulfillment channel from MFN to FBA the directions are provided below, then you can try to create a shipment again.
- To re-create the listing, follow these steps:
- From Inventory > Add a Product, add the product, entering the ASIN and condition.
- Then provide the exact same SKU from your FBA inventory while providing the required details.
- After the product is added, click the "All Inventory View."
- Search for the item you just added.
- Check the box to the left of the listing.
- From the "Action on Selected" drop-down menu, select "Convert to Fulfilled by Amazon."
- Click "Convert only", do not click on "Convert & Send Inventory."

If the error is unrelated to creating a shipment, the listing may be considered incomplete (see screenshot below).

Possible reasons the message could occur are shared below:
- Suppressed due to Image Missing. As you can see in the screenshot above, the main image was missing causing the message to appear. Sellers can check out the ‘Images not appearing on the Detail page’ in Seller Central for support in troubleshooting this issue.
- The product listing did not exist in other Amazon stores. For example, try listing the product in the US store first as it may only exists there. If you would like to list in other Amazon stores world wide, think about building out an international listings.
- The SKU has been discontinued. You can still reactivate the offer by creating a new listing.
- If you are using a third party software to list your products. Sellers should relist the item manually and not with the third party software if they get the error message above.
