Local post office refusing to process more than 10 packages
My local post office is refusing to process more than 10 packages at a time and stating that I have to drive to another post office (which is 10-15 minutes away). My post office is around the corner from my house. I asked them where this policy was and they said they had it for a while, but it only recently was enforced because a business shipped out 50 packages. Is the post office allowed to do this? I told them that this is bizarre and sounds like something that they just made up to escape doing work. How can I report or who should I report it to? No other post office that I have been to has ever said anything like this. They said they only have one window and I should go to another one. However, every post office around here has only one window as they are all dealing with shortages.

Accusing your local postal workers of lying and laziness is not the best approach to resolving your difficulties. Your business depends on their goodwill. Reporting them and feuding with them will probably only make things worse.
My local post office and workers are overworked and, as you mentioned, dealing with an extreme labor shortage. In the past weeks, it has had to close early several times. Fortunately, like you, I have a second post office nearby.

Not exactly sure what your end game was here… it’s not like they’re going to get sent reinforcements to accommodate your drop-offs. Seems the only result here is annoying (or worse) the people that you have to work with every day.

Clerks in my PO can scan 10 packages in under a minute.
I’m out the door a lot faster than the people who want to ship ONE package but show up at the counter without a box or tape or a prepaid label or any idea of how they want to ship, whether they want insurance, how tracking works, etc.
I would speak to your postmaster and see what you can work out. Package volume matters when USPS is looking to close or consolidate branches. Telling customers to just go elsewhere isn’t the best strategy.

Print the labels at your home or office and request a free USPS pickup with the correct # of parcels mentioned in the pickup request.

The local rules seem to change occasionally. Our carrier is supposed to only scan the first five packages. They know we sell ecommerce and always scan everything.
OP, are you just needing scans or are you having the clerk print shipping labels?

My local post office won’t scan prepaid packages if you wait in line. It’s very small with only person working the front counter. I have to drop my packages into a large bin that has a sign on it that says “ALL PREPAID PACKAGES HERE. DO NOT WAIT IN LINE TO HAVE PACKAGES SCANNED.” There are employees in the back that come collect the prepaid packages and scan them, then.

If you are not using scan sheets for your packages, you should.
Amazing how much more accommodating the clerks are when you do.
Long lines in the holiday season ruin everyone’s mood and a seller who wants individual scans on a large number of packages might not leave some PO’s alive.

As the previous two posters mentioned, you need to create a SCAN sheet. It not only saves time for you and the clerk, but also the other people you are inconveniencing by bringing a mountain of packages.
On Amazon you can find the tool to create them by going to the ORDER REPORTS page > END OF DAY FORMS
This will give you a single page with a single barcode that has all of the packages on it. When scanned it acknowledges receipt of all the packages at once instead of having to scan them one by one.
It’s not unheard of for small or even large post offices to request you use them if you have more than a handful of packages. It will also make your trip faster and the clerk friendlier.

End of days scans are worthless…they are not accepted by amazon or USPS as proof of shipping.
They are good only for sellers internal use.
Only the real scan of individual items is considered as a scan verifying that the items are in USPS possession.
