Is it possible for a seller to recover the amount of the chargeback claim from Amazon?

Hello there,

1 month more later, we have received a chargeback claim result from Amazon chargeback billing team said we're responsible for the buyer chargeback and refunded for the buyer. We was very astonished, because we provided all information that prove the buyer did receive the package in time to Amazon Chargeback Billing Team, and the buyer never contact us for any package issues. We have tried to send email to the buyer but the buyer never reply us. To us surprise, the buyer flied the chargeback claim after he received the package. The buyer received the package on 4 March 2024. The chargeback claim date on 5 March 2024.

In this case, the result is we need to cover the responsibility and refund for the buyer. We have replied to the chargeback billing team notification email address again to express the result is very unreasonable and unfair for us. We sincerely hope Amazon Billing Chargeback Claim Team could give us a fair adjudication. Because that refund amount is a bit more.

In this case, is it possible for a seller to recover the amount of the chargeback claim from Amazon?

If there have Amazon chargeback billing team guys here, please feel free to share your thoughts.

Thank you very much.

Amazon has nothing to do with chargebacks (just a middleman), as the buyers bank is who is requesting on their behalf. All you can do is present your evidence.

It is not possible for you to recover the amount of the chargeback claim from Amazon. Please refer to the help page I have linked below.

Please read the beginning of that help page and you will see the following information:

A chargeback, also known as a charge dispute, occurs when a cardholder contacts their bank to dispute the charge for an order placed on Amazon. A chargeback can be filed for a variety of reasons, ranging from non-receipt of the product to unauthorized use of the credit card.

As outlined in our Amazon Services Business Solutions Agreement:

  • You are responsible for chargebacks filed against your account for service-related reasons, such as non-receipt of the product.
  • Amazon is responsible for any payment-related fraud chargebacks, such as stolen credit cards or other payment fraud attempts.

The help page also addresses best practices to help you avoid chargebacks. I hope this helps.

Susan
