Sales at ABSOLUTE ZERO after reclassification

This week has been the Worst week in 7 years on Amazon as a handmade seller. It appears that All of my listings got reclassified this week, with no email, no warning, nothing. As a result my sales have gone from about about $100 and 10-15 sales a day to ZERO. Literally ZERO today. I had ONE sale yesterday. TWO sales on Wednesday, 2 sales on Tuesday.

@Joey_Amazon has said several times that if you didn't get the email you aren't part of the reclassification but I ABSOLUTELY was part of the reclassification this week. All of my listings went to "scrapbooking and sticker machines". I was NEVER in that category before. It's a sewing and crafts category and not relevant to what I actually sell, which is Cut Vinyl Stickers. I don't sell anything for scrapbooks, nor do i sell sticker machines.

Is there ANY WAY to undo this mess and get my sales ranks and positions back in GUILD? This is an unmitigated disaster of epic proportions. I had several listings highly visible and selling well. ASIN B0BNNY99R7 was averaging 3+ sales PER DAY. I haven't had a single one in days since the reclassification.

I've tried everything including lowering my prices that were already low to gain even ONE SALE, and nothing. Nothing is working and I fear that my time on Amazon has come to an end as a result. This was NOT what we were promised 10 months ago. I keep getting forced into Guinea Pig type of situations with Amazon. They make changes and force me into things without notice, without notification. If they had given me a heads up or ANYTHING. I had to find out that I had been reclassified because I was getting NO SALES. Someone PLEASE HELP FIX THIS.

I took a look to see what category I see for B0BNNY99R7. I see it in Tools & Home Improvement›Hardware›Mailboxes & Accessories›Mailbox Accessories & Hardware›Mailbox Numbers. Maybe they have put this one in the correct category.

I looked others and they are still in the scrapbooking and stitcker machines. Have you tried the change a category link? I had to use this link for some of my items.

@Seller_xlf3vF516IRliI have been here, so I understand that the panic is real. But understanding the real cause behind your listing changes is vital so that you can get the right help, because I suspect that your listings were not changed as part of the the Reclassification process (because if they were you would be showing a dual BSR in both handmade as well as the new category). To double check if you were part of the reclassification, follow these steps:

1. Go to Reports - Inventory Reports

img

2. Run a Category Listing report. If you don't see this as an option (because not everyone has it in their default set of reports) open a case with seller support and ask for access to this report in your account. It might take a day before you see the option show up in your report list.

3. Download the report and check these columns. If the product type column still has GUILD in it, and/or your Item Type Keyword still has handmade in it somewhere, then your listings were not part of the reclassification process and it's just general Amazon craptasticness that has gotten you.

But if you were part of the process (the current wave started 6-15 and I just got the official notification that it was over last night, per the original email the next wave is scheduled to start the mid/end of Aug) here is the link to the PDF file that says what you have have to do to get your listings working again. Hopefully the link will post because it is an Amazon link. I don't know why they didn't just post this info outright in their announcement post: https://m.media-amazon.com/images/G/02/handmade/sellermarketing/How-To_Guide_Handmade_Product_Reclassification_Actions._CB1749139431_.pdf.

But for those of us that were in the first wave, our only recourse now for things that didn't work is to go through seller support, so there isn't any magic wand way of fixing any reclassification problems that remain (I'm typing this up as I'm waiting for my reports to run, fingers crossed as I still had 85 with problems yesterday).

img

4. If your listing was not part of the reclassification process, go to seller support to open a ticket. If you have access to the catalog listing expert beta, click here first to open a ticket. This will get you directly to a human in the catalog department and I've had good luck interacting with them so far:

img

If you don't see this button, open a case and make sure you choose phone support. Talking to a human has gotten me much better results than just doing email.

When you originally open the case with your text summary of the issue DO NOT mention Handmade Reclassification at all. ANY mention of this will get your ticket dropped faster than a hot potato as they'll say it's not their problem as a separate team in Amazon is handling this. Ditto for when you are talking with the agent. Just stick to the facts that your browse node was changed and that you need your stickers back in the proper browse node of kitchen stickers (if I remember your other posts correctly).

Good Luck!

How do we get a report showing the CATEGORY / BROWSE NODE products are in?

@Joey_Amazon

The "category" report shows Item Type and Item Type Keyword - but not the actual category / browse node.

I sell bumper stickers and doing manual searches of products in the marketplace, one by one, am also finding them miscategoriezed as Arts, Crafts & Sewing | Scrapbooking & Stamping | Stickers & Sticker Machines

For example, I am looking at a bumper sticker misplaced under sticker machines. The Category Report lists Product_Type as Guild_Home and Item-Type-Keyword as Handmade.

But there's nothing showing the Marketplace Category / browse node / whatever ou call it - has been misplaed in.

Is there a different report to show what category products are in?

I'm also seeing my stickers listed as condoms, nipple covers, tattoos, etc. The more I look the more absurd this is.

Sorry to hear the pain you are going through.

Have you tried going through the Browse Tree Listing guide? The browse paths and nodes are described there, may be match your SKUs browse tree against the said BTG? See if you can find anything abnormal there.

Also, Amazon keeps on changing our browse paths based on internal decisions as well as our listing content. Maybe check if there's any word in your listing that is making this change happen.

@Seller_M94fHI9Bg7LMXjust got the dreaded "we're reclassifying your listings" email. You are absolutely correct that it's vague and doesn't provide ANY help for what comes next. Says Starts 8/18 and ends 10/31.

It says do NOT edit any of the categories during that time, but how do we "validate" the new product types? Do we just fill out the category report correctly and send that to support with a ticket? I have sooooo many questions.

Yes, I got the email last Thursday and according to them, this will happen for all Handmade sellers, starting today up to Oct 31.

Here is the email:

"We are reclassifying product types for ALL AMAZON HANDMADE LISTINGS in batches between August 18 and October 31, 2025. During this time, certain attributes cannot be edited.

This reclassification will improve product discoverability and enable new features but could require your immediate action throughout this period. Review the important details and required actions below.

Why is this happening?

We are reclassifying Handmade product listings from "GUILD" to standard product types to improve your selling experience. This change will enhance product discoverability in searches and browsing, improve detail page features and content, enable listing in multiple marketplaces, and provide access to Seller Central's Listing Quality dashboard. Listings will maintain their Handmade designation throughout this process.

To learn more, go to Amazon Handmade catalog reclassification project.

What steps do I need to take?

During this period, continue fulfilling orders and responding to customers as usual. Regularly check your Category Listing report during this time to identify any reclassified listings. We will also send monthly updates for all the changes that have been made.

To ensure successful reclassification, do not update the following attributes in your Handmade listings from August 18-October 31:

Category

Product type

Item type keyword

Handmade classification

Department

When your listings are reclassified, validate your new product types and item type keywords, assign appropriate Handmade classification attributes, and ensure that all required attributes are complete.

What happens if I do not take these steps?

If your reclassified listings are missing required attributes, they may experience reduced visibility in search and browse results or become deactivated until the required information is provided. These new attribute requirements apply as listings are reclassified, so your action may be required throughout this period.

We’re here to help.

If you have questions about this process, contact Selling Partner Support.

What a disaster. There are so many "required" attributes for new listings that were not previously required in Handade, but older listings were fine as new requirements were not applied to them.

Some are not obvious, such as absurdly needing a maximum age allowed for someone to buy a sticker.

No big deal if you have 5 products. Some of us have many thousands. As a practical matter many products will just die.

It maybe time consuming but can you edit them and change the catagories individually? At lease for your best sellers.

4. If your listing was not part of the reclassification process, go to seller support to open a ticket. If you have access to the catalog listing expert beta, click here first to open a ticket. This will get you directly to a human in the catalog department and I've had good luck interacting with them so far:

@Joey_Amazon
