FBM deactivated, FBA still active

Hi,

My FBM account was suspended like an year ago. My FBA account is still active.

I am looking to buy an ecommerce business entity which sells nearly all of it's products through FBA. I have a few questions.

- Can I create a new amazon seller account with a new EIN to get that business entity's amazon account transferred to me?

-Is there a possibility of the new account getting deactivated? All the personal details of the new account will obviously be similar to the old account, since personal details cannot be changed.

-FBM getting suspened in the new account wouldn't be big of a deal but if FBA gets suspended I will be facing a massive loss of a few hundred thousand dollars since I will be getting a loan to buy this entity.

Please I need urgent help.

You may not create a second selling account unless you have a real need (Amazon decides that) and your first account is in good health. If your account is suspended and you attempt to create a second account, that would be in violation of policy.

I do not believe that Amazon would consider your first account to be in good health. It is semi-restricted. I don't remember any forum reports from someone who attempted such a maneuver.

I strongly advise against it.

Each account should be registered with your own information. If you have done so and currently have restrictions for FBA only, then this will be your only way to proceed. Any attempt to register a new account may see disruptions or suspensions due to the current status of your original account.

Additionally, our team may request to verify the information associated to the account. If they are unable to do so due to you having purchased the account, you may see additional removals to your ability to operate your account.

If you have any additional questions or concerns, please continue to refer here for support.

Best,

Atlas

FYI, Buying a Business That has a Corporate Business Amazon Account included is different from Buying an Amazon account.

As noted though, if you have more than one Amazon account associated to you and any one of them is suspended or restricted in any way, then ALL of them will get suspended or restricted.

I would NOT open a NEW amazon account to take on the new business. If that business is being sold to you complete including it's Amazon account registered to the corporate entity, then make sure you get all the information to take over that account along with the corporate entity. You need to make sure your current Amazon account and the Corporate one are not selling the same items and in general you want to make sure they are selling in totally different categories to make sure you don't run against Amazon policies.

However, if it is a smaller business that was simply using an individual's Amazon account, then you will likely want to simply bring the business into your existing business and Amazon account since it is easier to carefully monitor ONE Amazon account than to need to keep two totally separate Amazon accounts and if both accounts would be selling products in the same categories, then you should merge the two businesses rather than trying to keep them totally separate.

The primary reason in the past that Amazon would deem needing separate Amazon accounts was for things like a totally separate Brand Business. Like maybe you had an Automotive business with your own brand name and products and then years later you started an additional business and developed a new brand of vitamin supplements and didn't want the two businesses sharing Web sites or Amazon accounts or anything. Back then Amazon required people to get permission to open more than one account, now days they generally don't have an avenue for you to get "permission", they are happy to take your fees and then suspend all your accounts while you try to get the additional account verified. Even if everything goes totally smoothly (by Amazon standards) you could still find yourself with your accounts suspended during the verification process which can take time.

So, do you still feel that you have legit business need to have the new business under a separate Amazon Account? Are the two businesses completely and totally different? (as in have their own brands selling products in completely different categories, have their own web sites selling products in their "niche" markets?)

And when you ask if you can create a new seller account with a new EIN to get their account transferred to you. I think you are looking at it backwards. If that other business is a corporate entity, then you get that business transferred to you (you become the corporate officer/stock holder) and make sure they update the Amazon account to you and remove their own access. (that is if their amazon account was set up as a corporate account and not an individual account.)

However, if both businesses are simply buying wholesale and selling on Amazon in the same categories and no Specialty Store Reputation or Brand Ownership is involved, then keep it simple and make sure you get the Authorizations to sell the products on amazon transferred to you and move their business onto your existing account.
