Shipping adjustments added for no reason
We are constantly getting .75 cent added shipping adjustments debits to our shipments. The reason given is our measurements do not match. We ship in 9x6x1 padded envelopes and the reason for added postage fees is the actual shipping size was 9x1x6 ???? How is that any different? And why would that matter anyway? This has been happening for months. Can someone explain? Here is a recent order number 113-8232864-0907429 . USPS is robbing us of hundreds of dollars.

while I see this posted all the time, I never see an update of how and if, someone found resolution.
So I always say the same thing....did you contact someone from the post office? Amazon doesn't add the fees.

According to Amazon's help page on carrier shipping corrections, USPS measures packages in a specific way. Under the "How correction charges are calculated?" section, it explains that measurements need to be listed in this order:
- Length (the longest side)
- Width (the second longest side)
- Height (the shortest side)
So while 9x6x1 and 9x1x6 might seem identical mathematically, USPS requires them in descending order. The help page also mentions that to avoid these charges, you should "round up to the nearest whole number" for all measurements.
You can check the exact reason for any specific adjustment by visiting your Payments Transaction View (as described in the "Where can I see the type of charges?" section of the help page). Just enter your order number 113-8232864-0907429, find the Carrier Adjustment line, and click the amount in the Total column. This will show you how USPS measured your package compared to what was on the label.

First: the order that dimensions are displayed, as well as whether a weight is displayed in pounds or ounces, does not affect the shipping rate charged by the carrier.
Second: there are reasons that the carrier may apply a different shipping rate besides a difference between the carrier-audited information and the original label information. As for Order 113-8232864-0907429: I reviewed the details of that shipment and the carrier-audited weight for that shipment was heavier than the label. 1.08 LB vs 1.0 LB. I understand this might not be the case for all of your adjustments, but for this shipment the adjustment was likely due to a heavier audited weight.

The same thing has been happening for months. The post office was no help. Amazon needs to investigate this and give us some clarity. They want us to buy shipping through them but will not help us when there is a postage issue with the post office.

This site is so ridiculous with the adjustments. We sell on several sites, same products and packaging over and over. Never had any adjustments on any other sites. This site we have had at least 100 or more over the last few years. If its fedex I can fight and win with proof. Post office is a joke. Amazon blames them and they blame Amazon. We have emailed countless times. Opened claim and cases. Many of them are the same exact weight and size as we put and somehow they charge us anyway. Its truly theft at this point

Just found one on a return. The return label was for 4oz. 9x6x1. The item returned was same with the actual weight being around 1 - 2oz. Got a $2 adjustment for no reason. What was returned was correct and there was zero reason it should have received an adjustment.
No really worth fighting for $2, but I bet USPS knows that...

I am no advocate for Amazon, but that would be straight out FRAUD if Amazon was doing this and I know they have hundreds of lawyers on the payroll checking every loop hole....
