Search Terms change to 250 bytes?

Did a change take effect on the search terms when listing a product?? I have been going back in to change my pictures for compliance…and every single one also has a quality issue with the search terms…one line, and says it has to be less than 250 bytes…

is this new? or a glitch?

Thanks…

The 250 byte limit for English keywords is not new. It was announced about a year ago. If the total bytes for all lines of your keyword fields equals or exceeds 250 bytes no keywords will be indexed. It is not 250 bytes per line. In English, one byte generally equals one character, with some special characters having two bytes.

From Amazon’s announcement:

  • Keep content within the prescribed length limit (less than 250, 200 for India, 500 for Japan):
  • Length limit applies to total content in all generic keyword fields (a max. of 5 attributes).
  • Whole entry will be rejected upon exceeding limit.
