Hello Everyone,
I heard that amazon now strongly recommends that UPC bar codes be directly bought from gs1.org websites instead of other 3-party companies and that otherwise there will be complications down the line.
If that is the case, then how does a generic seller (who has no brand) purchase UPC from a gs1.org website since it asks for a brand name at the time of purchase? Kindly clarify.
It's not "strongly recommends", it's "required"
A generic seller with no brand would have to get a GTIN exemption for their item to have a Generic Brand to sell on Amazon. Be warned, generic listings allow anyone to sell and there is no protection.
Hello @Seller_R1D4eckg9pilk
This is Lucre from Amazon forums, I understand you're trying to list a product but don't have any registered brand to buy the product from GS1.
I see @Seller_7LrAV0m5llaI7is right and gave you a great option to sell your products, please refer to the below help page to learn more about this process:
List products that do not have a GTIN (UPC, EAN, JAN, or ISBN)
Eventually, you may also develop your brand and get a registered trademark which will allow you to register your brand in the Brand Registry program.
Please visit this page for more information about Brand Registry.
Let me know if you have any other question.
Regards,
