Reduce return costs with returnless resolutions

Returnless resolutions is a free program that lets you automatically issue refunds without requiring customers to ship products back. Instead of paying to process returns that cost more than the item may be worth, this helps you keep costs down and resolve customer issues faster. It is available to all sellers on a Professional selling plan who use Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA).

You set the rules for how this works for your business – by price range, product category, or return reason – and we automatically apply them when a return request meets your set criteria. The program evaluates each return against your preferences, so you only skip returns when it makes financial sense.

Benefits of returnless resolutions include the following:

  • Lower return costs. Eliminate shipping, inspection, and restocking expenses on items where return processing costs more than the product's value. For example, paying $8–$12 to ship back a $5 item.
  • Faster customer resolutions. Customers receive immediate refunds without waiting for return shipping, which can lead to better reviews.
  • Full control over your rules. Define price thresholds, select specific categories, and choose which return reasons trigger returnless refunds. You can adjust anytime as your margins change.
  • Less operational overhead. Reduce the volume of returns you receive, inspect, and restock, especially for perishable goods, hygiene-sensitive products, or items that lose value once opened.

To set up returnless resolutions, go to the FBA Settings in Seller Central and then click Returnless resolutions under the FBA returns evaluation & ownership settings.

To learn more, go to Returnless resolutions.

Note: Amazon continuously monitors returns to prevent fraud, abuse, and misuse of the FBA Returnless Resolutions program. The guardrails protecting this program are the same ones Amazon has used for years on its own products and you benefit from those same protections.

OMG!, I have waited so long for this day!

Love how they point out its a FREE PROGRAM!

And its such a great deal for customers who participate in the Amazon "Free Products" program!

Seriously, who among us really has time to wait until the buyer doesn't send product back to get our revenue returned. Thank you amazon, you are saving us so much time by letting us hand over money super fast!

Now, if you could only just go ahead and eliminate any hope of getting back the return postage you charge us when you lie about carrier getting the package.

What can I say other than Amazon sure knows how to get behind sellers and really push those extra thrusts that the other marketplaces would never imagine doing. You sure know how to penetrate deep into the sellers assesments of risk, and shoot a huge load of confidence that you will always be there, doing exactly what you are doing now!

How about we just remove all of our products and send you a big check every month? Would that be enough for you to stop trying to squeeze blood from our stones?

@Dougal_Amazon please also request the Amazon team to set the filter for Ordered quantities apart from just price.

For example, if someone ordered one unit, they can have returnless resolution, but if someone ordered 3 units, they would have to return the items back to get the resolution (refund).

This will prevent the buyer from misusing this option.

how about giving 3P's a chance to void an order from a known scammer and report them without impacting matrix? yes, I know this platform would lose a lot of revenue so not holding my breath if we were to have a forum location to out them w/o waiting for your bots.

how about sending every buyer in the system a ruler b/c it seems many of our buyers don't have one or don't know what the marks on one represent.

I'm hoping someone from Amazon or another seller who has dealt with this can help because this is becoming a major issue for our business. Over the past several weeks, it seems like Amazon's returnless refunds have gotten completely out of control. Around 90% of our customer returns are now being approved as returnless refunds, even for products that cost $500+. In many cases, the customer simply changed their mind, yet they're refunded and allowed to keep the product. To address this, I have deleted all returnless resolution rules from my account. I also followed Seller Support's guidance regarding the alleged SKU-level returnless settings. I was told in multiple cases that there are SKU-level settings sellers cannot see or manage directly. Following their instructions, I had those settings removed as well in an effort to stop the bleeding. Despite all of that, the returnless refunds continue. The biggest problem is that SAFE-T claims are showing as "Not Eligible," leaving me with no apparent way to recover these losses. I've opened multiple Seller Support cases, but I still haven't received a meaningful explanation or resolution. At this point, we're losing thousands of dollars because customers are keeping expensive products after receiving full refunds. Has anyone else experienced a sudden increase in returnless refunds for high-value items? Has anyone successfully escalated this or identified the root cause? If an Amazon moderator could review this or explain why these orders are still being approved as returnless despite all returnless settings being removed—and why SAFE-T claims are ineligible—I would greatly appreciate it.Any insight or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
