Notice: Updated Amazon Supply Chain Standards

We’ve updated our Supply Chain Standards, which take effect on January 19, 2023. These standards are updated every three years as part of a regular review.

Our Supply Chain Standards apply to all selling partners and suppliers. Products sold in Amazon stores must comply with these standards and be produced in a way that respects human rights and the environment and protects the fundamental dignity of workers.

The updates include additional requirements, expectations, and clarifications, such as:

  • Additional requirements to protect workers from harmful recruitment and engagement practices, which include providing workers with clear, understandable documentation of the employment terms and conditions before the start of their employment
  • Further clarification that suppliers must have effective grievance mechanisms that workers can use to raise concerns without retaliation
  • Mandatory remediation if any cases of child labor are identified
  • Further clarification that suppliers must provide workers with a safe and healthy work environment that avoids harm to workers' health
  • The prohibition of land-grabbing and any illegal use of natural resources
  • Clearer specifications that suppliers must comply with applicable privacy and information security laws and regulations

To learn more, review the updated Amazon Supply Chain Standards.

Talk about gaslighting…

If this were truly adhered to 90% of the products sold here made in China would be banned.

So does this mean that all of the Amazon products made in China will be removed from the platform? Starting with million of such products sold by Amazon directly…

  1. Are these standards amazon expects for sellers OR will it be enforced through some type of documentation?

  2. If amazon is trying to limit liability from bad actors on their platform with a statement like this, wouldn’t it require documentation? For example, most batteries have cobalt mined from the Congo in less than human conditions… Knowing this, will Amazon ban all products with rechargeable batteries?

Although this won’t affect my business and I appreciate the thought and consideration for others, its a slippery slope.

It is tough to overstate how tone deaf this is.

So can I assume this is JUST for US sellers and all of the NUMEROUS dollar a day workers in the millions of overseas sellers are just exempted?

Can we talk about cameras in Amazon warehouse bathrooms? I have pics just in case they want to deny it…

Can we talk about no refusal mandatory overtime (MET) 70+ hour work weeks in Amazon warehouses?
