Let's talk Late Shipment Rate

What is Late Shipment Rate?

Late Shipment Rate, also referred to as LSR, is a metric that measures all orders with a ship confirmation that is completed after the expected ship date as a percentage of total orders over both a 10-day or 30-day period. Late Shipment Rate only applies to seller-fulfilled orders.

Selling Partners are required to maintain an LSR under 4% in order to sell in the Amazon Store.

Why is this metric important?

It's important to confirm the shipment of orders by the expected ship date so that customers can see the status of their shipped orders online.

How can a Selling Partner maintain a healthy LSR?

A healthy LSR can be maintained by ensuring the following:

  • Shipping orders on or before the expected ship date.
  • Confirming orders as soon as you hand the package over to the carrier.
  • Always monitor your late shipment score in the Account Health Dashboard

Please note that adjusting your handling time can help prevent late shipments.

You can check out this help page if you have questions regarding LSR. You can also open a thread in this category for support from other members of the community and from community managers.

It is remiss of you not to mention that Amazon secretly adjusting your handling can help create late shipments.

The forum is going to continue to sprout new threads on this theme as more sellers notice what's happening. Or wonder why.

I have an order that was receid 3/28 at 11:36pm eastern time. I do not have Same Day shipping enabled, it was a standard order, and somehow it is saying that the shipment is late? We process hundreds of orders every day and this is randomly happening to us over the last week. Is anyone else having a similar issue? Customer service has no answers either.

I ignored this the first time it happened but clearly there is a deeper issue. I have only seen it happen maybe 2 or 3 times in the last few weeks.

Hello @Quincy_Amazon, I'm in a similar situation as Discount_Scrubs_and. As you can see, order ID ending with 2606 was placed at 9PM on Mar6, but the Expected Ship Date is just 11 hours later 7:59AM on Mar7. Our order cutoff time is 2PM and we have 1 day handling, so shipping an item in between the hours of 9PM and 8AM seems like a glitch in the new LSR system and how the Expected Ship Date is calculated.

I found the glitch in the LSR (If your late shipping is going up, and your doing nothing wrong).

This is your issue right here! (Amazon's Code is written incorrectly, and not using Sellers Default in their shipping business model. Please feel free to copy and paste my screen shot - Amazon can try and push more threads, but the truth is the truth. (they made an error) - Default in computer language is not new math, its english - AI cannot even spell check properally at all, and I am sure anyone with a smartphone can relate.

SSA would work fine if it didnt make the standard shipping (0). Why would expedited and priority shipping keep their handling time correct, when the customer has to pay for expedited shipping? - Regardless Default is Default at (2days) anything other is a Mistake. De Fault is Amazons coding, and not adding the 2day Excluding Handling time to a sellers LSR. - Amazon owes FBM sellers (2-days) or more, depending on what your Default Settings are.
