New Titles Requirements and Fields

New 75-Character Title Requirement and Item Highlights Field – How Are Large Catalog Sellers Supposed to Manage This?

Post:

Amazon has announced new title requirements limiting product titles to 75 characters (including spaces) and introducing an Item Highlights field with a maximum length of 125 characters.

I manage a catalog of approximately 2,500 ASINs and am trying to understand how Amazon expects sellers to implement these changes at scale.

I recently downloaded the latest category inventory file/spec sheet and could not find a field for "Item Highlights." If this information must be entered manually through Seller Central, it creates a significant operational challenge for sellers managing large catalogs.

A few questions:

Will Amazon release updated flat files that include an Item Highlights field?

Will there be bulk-upload support for Item Highlights?

Will API integrations support this attribute?

Will Amazon provide a report identifying affected ASINs and title compliance issues?

What is the expected timeline for enforcement?

For sellers with hundreds or thousands of listings, manual updates through Seller Central are simply not practical. Bulk tools have always been essential for catalog management, and it would be helpful to understand Amazon's plan for supporting large-scale compliance before these requirements take effect.

Has anyone received clarification from Amazon regarding bulk support for Item Highlights or title updates?

Thanks in advance for any information.

July 27, 2026 is the kick-off date, not a hard deadline. This is a gradual rollout, so changes will be phased in progressively, not enforced overnight. You have time throughout 2026 to review and adopt changes at a pace that works for your business. Brand owners receive a 14-day review window before any AI-suggested changes are implemented.

Your total content capacity remains at 200 characters — it's just now split across two fields. No information is being dropped from what you can communicate to buyers.

I understand the concern about bulk updates since you're managing a large catalog. I'd encourage you to monitor the official policy page for updates on tooling support.

We managed it by using flat file uploads.

These files have already been updated with the required fields.

Also, when doing this, make sure not to add highlights to any parent asins as that will cause errors.

Regarding implementing these changes at scale.

You can try a template (provided by amazon connector for g sheets). Looks something like this

img

Contains your live catalog, read-only title and so-called writeback title and item highlights columns. The template contains also a smart ai prompt that splits your existing title into title + item highlights. Then directly from g sheets you have a button allowing you to submit changes and that's pretty much it. Works for other attributes as well.

google for hopted amazon connector and writebacks

Programmatically over bulk files, with claude over the selling partner API, or just let Amazon's AI do it.
