Business Cards Allowed?

Newbie here, so there should be an easy answer, but I can’t find info anywhere on this! I’m packing my art prints to send to FBA, and want to know if I’m allowed to include a business card in each print package?? I don’t want to get in trouble, but I also don’t want to miss a marketing opportunity. Anyone know if this is kosher?

I think it’s allowed. You should confirm with amazon

You can only include material directing them back to your Amazon store. Only use that Amazon webstore address in your packaging.and biz card.

Amazon is obsessive about shutting down anything that directs any of their customers to any other business, website, or contact on another platform. Amazon’s desire to shut down as much competition that takes place off-platform as possible has gotten the attention of several legislators, but for now they still are really obsessive about it…

Having said all that, you didn’t actually say what is on your business card. You’re allowed to include “inserts” in your FBA products… What is ON those inserts is what may or may not cause a problem.

Unless you are the manufacture or brand owner you should not include anything in with your items.

NO, especially if you are sending into FBA. Warehouse Billy will bust you. They are Amazon’s customers, not yours. If you want your own customers, I suggest you build a website.

LOLOLOL!

If your “business card-sized” insert is…

  • Amazon-specific (only your Amazon store info)
  • absent any off-Amazon contact info (e.g., website, email)
  • free of requests for positive reviews/feedback
  • free of social media handles
  • free of discount/promo codes outside of Amazon
  • packaged within your product packaging

…then you should be fine.

I include a “thank you” bookmark with book orders that follows these guidelines (and I don’t use discount/promo codes in general). It makes for pretty boring “advertising,” but the design is cute.

I don’t think a business card is really the best, what you could do is make a short biographical piece that talks about where you got your MFA … what motivates you -drives you- what inspires you…

It may take a bunch of different versions, sometimes writing about yourself and pimping yourself out representing yourself in the best manner is not something that everyone is geared to do… hint so maybe have your mother and a couple other people look at it and make Corrections… you may not be flowery enough about yourself…

Similar to a author biography which most people have author pages on Amazon, they probably don’t have artist pages…

You want to write something that’s compelling that someone feels a connection to you, when I was a kid I worked in a gallery, and had a small wholesale scenario … fairly inexpensive business lesson, having partners is like getting married you need to make sure of a lot of things before you get involved…

Many times when we had stuff I’m trying to think but I can remember kind of hanging on the back of stuff framed pieces - ancillary paperwork…

Might have been a certificate of authenticity, but subliminally suggesting that they might want to put your bio on the piece after they frame it… Might be a good idea…

I assume there is some signature on the pieces?

You want some how create added value and a connection to the person buying the print… and there’s somebody admires it they can either take it down off the wall and it’s on there or they can talk about you in a real life moment…

I know you can’t help it if —you’re an established artist and you happen to have social media things going on and have a portfolio of your work perhaps somewhere on the internet… a Wikipedia page… and if you have a showing the gallery put out a bunch of promo pieces – might hit the internet in some way shape or form…

As long as there’s not a direct overt marketing involved no websites, no phone numbers I can’t see the harm of a value-added biographical piece, in served --into however – your shipping these things… be they rolled up or framed and enclosed in sheets of Styrofoam …

Much of owning a piece of art is about bragging and being able to talk about it oh, I have no idea what the price range of these things is and it probably doesn’t matter…

Running around town I meet all kinds of interesting people and sometimes there are some of these girls that run galleries for some rich dude & it’s something they sorted do to cultivate a social life & give them some social brownie points & other really weird esoteric reasons…, tax write-offs, they happen to own a building - can’t rent it -on La Cienega so they put a gallery up for a year or two…

Good luck and I hope your goodies and widgets and offerings do well…

But I believe you are permitted to include your customer service phone number on your care instructions. At least, that’s what I was told by seller support, which may or may not be true. However, I did do this with an item that required special care and was never ‘slapped’ for it. Pretty sure the item was checked out, as they were stuck in ‘processing’ fairly often with no other reason why they should be (we placed a sticker on the outside stating that the customer needs to follow the enclosed care instructions).
