Read onlyHello Sellers,
Welcome back to the Listings Lounge. As a seller, you may want to stop selling your product on Amazon. Some reasons include issues with product causing negative reviews, no longer having stock or expectations to get more stock, product was determined ineligible to sell on Amazon, the product wasn’t successful, or if there’s a newer version.
If you’re curious about the process to discontinue selling your product on Amazon, you're in the right place. Below, we've outlined the process to help you navigate this task efficiently.
To stop selling your product, you can make it inactive by closing the listing in your Seller Central account. To close your listing, go to the Manage All Inventory page, locate your product listing, click the Edit drop-down menu on the right, and then select Close listing. This will change the status of the listing to Inactive.
You can close multiple listings at the same time by checking the box to the left of each product listing. Then select Close listing from the Action drop-down menu at the top of the page.
When you close a listing, your product will no longer be available for sale on Amazon, but you will retain your sales history, and will retain the information you provided in Amazon's system in case you decide to relist in the future. You can relist the product at any time.
To delete your product and listing, from the Manage All Inventory page, locate your product listing, click the Edit drop-down menu on the right, and then select Delete product and listing. This will only remove the item from your Manage All Inventory page, the information you have previously submitted will remain in Amazon's system.
You can delete multiple listings at the same time by checking the box to the left of each product listing. After this, select Delete product and listing from the Action drop-down menu at the top of the page.
Important: Deleting a listing is permanent, but does not remove the contributions that you have submitted to Amazons system. If you want to offer the listing again, you must wait 24 hours before you can add it.
If you would like to fully remove your listing information from your account and Amazons system, my colleague @Michelle_Amazon has written a very helpful article which explains how do just that in this post, For the Love of Infringement! Stop IP Claims Before They Start. From there, the recommendation is to delete SKUs Using Inventory Loader to delete your offers and item data contributions. Enter an "x" in the add-delete field in your Inventory Loader file. This will completely remove all data associated with your SKU.
Keep in mind that even if deleting the listing, the product will be retained as part of the Amazon catalog so other Sellers will still be able to sell it.
We'd appreciate your feedback: What was your experience with removing your listing? Did you encounter any problems that need additional support or clarification?
If you’re running into any issues with stopping listing your product, feel free to contact Seller Support. If you have created a case and require additional review, please open a new thread, select the “Create and Manage Listings” category, and include your case ID so a Community Manager can assist.
