I don't understand why we, as sellers, need to spend two copies of the fee to complete compliance after we have completed the testing report and have it reviewed by TIC agencies, which have different fees for each agency. Is this fee required by Amazon or collected privately by TIC institutions? Previously, Amazon did not charge any fees for reviewing product compliance reports. Why does adding a TIC verification report (which is not issued by a TIC agency) incur additional fees? I really don't understand this charge.

Will this also apply to handmade items ? Testing for handmade items can be tough especially since most of these handmade stores are small businesses. Rolling this policy out right before the Holidays when everyone is already in overdrive prepping for holiday sales is going to cause a lot of potential issues, especially if these documents will be due before holiday shopping.

Do you realize how many MILLIONS of discontinued, antique, etc. toys are sold on Amazon? I am assuming none of them will be exempt so all those listings will now come down? No more Hot Wheels (except this years) no more beanie babies (yes people still buy them) no more vintage Barbie Dolls, Lego sets, GI Joes, etc. etc. etc.

#1) Every other consideration of this depends on the Amazon definition of a "Children's Toy".

Here in the U.S.A., this is defined by Law:

"In the U.S.A., the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) generally defines a "children's toy" as any product designed or intended for play by children 12 years of age or younger, considering factors like manufacturer statements, packaging, common consumer recognition, and age guidelines. The official definition appears in the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) under 16 CFR Part 1250, which details safety standards for toys, and defines "children's toy" using the broader definition of a "children's product" from 16 CFR Part 1200."

So, @Michelle_Amazon, PLEASE reply back that the ONLY ASIN's that will be affected are for "Toys" that are "designed or intended for play by children 12 years of age or younger". In OUR Amazon experience, this matter has been left to a computer program and NOT Human beings, and said computer program is WILDLY inaccurate, consistently erroneously deactivating ASIN's that are NOT "Children's Toys", because the program can't tell the difference, and WE can't argue with a computer program!

PLEASE reply back that there will be an "Appeal" process that the Seller can utilize to challenge the "Children's Toys" label that Amazon applies to the ASIN.

#2) There are MANY ASIN's that are SHARED by MANY Amazon Sellers (some even Amazon themselves), so in what way is it Fair to force any single Seller to bear the cost of "Product Testing" to reactivate the affected ASIN, ONLY to have EVERY OTHER Amazon Seller with that product to enjoy the right to list it on Amazon for FREE, without having to bear ANY of the costs of said "Testing". Please explain this.

3) For ALL Licensed Products, the "Product Safety Testing" is the responsibility of the Manufacturer as part of their Licensing Agreement. This has NEVER been the Responsibility of the Wholesale Distributor NOR the Retailer. PLEASE reply back that Licensed Products purchased from a Recognized and Valid Wholesale Distributor(s) are EXEMPT from this "New Safety Compliance Process Coming This Fall".

As someone who has enjoyed a VERY successful relationship with Amazon, I am EXTREMELY CONCERNED by your Post, and what it portends for our continued relationship. I suspect I am not alone in these concerns.

Furthermore, as someone who has defended Amazon against those who post "Conspiracy Theories" about how "Amazon is an Evil Company who is trying to Destroy your Business", I must admit that reading between the lines of your Post, one can certainly assume that this is Amazon attempting to Remove MOST, if not ALL 3rd Party Sellers of these products.

The fact that Amazon is choosing to do this "Coming This Fall", means that this will hit JUST AS THE HOLIDAY SHOPPING BEGINS!

This is SO Anti-Business and INSANE that it almost impossible to believe! You REALLY do NOT want our Business anymore?

Are you making SO MUCH money that you can afford to LOSE everything we bring to your table?

BTW, Thanks a bunch for giving us this notice in the middle of the night (11 hours ago). Nice!

Why should any sellers put up with this uncertainty?
View post

For many years Wal-Mart has been actively attempting to recruit me to Sell on THEIR site.

Frankly, Amazon has kept us SO BUSY, that the though of having to fulfill another sales channel was too daunting to contemplate.

However...

IF this is as catastrophic as it appears, it seems that Amazon will NO LONGER be a place for Buyers to find the products we Sell.

This void will create an opportunity, but the CHAOS created in the interim is beyond unconscionable! I am not aware of ANY recent Legal decision that has created a Liability for Amazon to continue to list these products.

So, the question at hand is: WHY NOW?

Unfortunately, the only answers I can arrive at is that Amazon has decided to remove 3rd Party Sellers, and we are the starting point. I would LOVE to hear an alternate explanation that might help make this make some sense to me...

Here's an "Out of the Box" solution: ALLOW A LISTING TO BE POSTED WITH AN AGE-APPROPRIATE LIMIT - AGE 14 YEARS AND UP (for example). Amazon can make a checkbox for the Seller to check if the product is for "14 Years and Up", and the "Warning" would automatically appear on the details page, AND even on the Packing-Slip. This would be an EASY and ELEGANT solution that would ensure Freedom of Liability for Amazon, and SALES for us ALL! It would be a "Win-Win".

Yea sorry guys, I will not comply with this onerous policy. I have CPC and lab testing documentation from my vendors already that you guys ALREADY reject even though they are from approved labs. I'm not going to be forced to pay for this and then still get rejected even though the toy item complies.

Amazon is aware that all toys have to have this documentation ALREADY when imported into the US right? I'm sure you do. You're all just pulling another Diapers.com scam on us small sellers. Every part of this policy goes far above and beyond federal regulations too.

I'm just going to pull all toy ASINs as they get flagged and I'll boost my ad spend on my websites. Removing my revenue away from the Amazon platform. What a joke and insult.

BTW, Thanks a bunch for giving us this notice in the middle of the night (11 hours ago). Nice!

Starting September 3, 2025, all children's toys will require annual testing or document verification from an approved Testing, Inspection, and Certification (TIC) organization.

I successfully registered, and was even able to join the webinar.

Unfortunately, I am not set-up with a Web-Cam. I was HOPING to do this via chat/text.

@Michelle_Amazon, Perhaps my concerns might be addressed here?
