🛡️ Eliminating Counterfeits: Real ROI with Amazon Transparency

Protect Your Brand and Build Customer Trust with Amazon Transparency

Hello sellers!

Are you looking for a powerful way to eliminate counterfeits, ensure product authenticity, and strengthen customer relationships? Amazon's Transparency program offers brands comprehensive protection and engagement tools that deliver real results.

Real Success Stories

Groove Life: Eliminating Stress with Proactive Protection

Groove Life experienced explosive 300-400% growth in just two years on Amazon. But with growth came challenges: counterfeit products threatened their brand reputation and customer safety. After enrolling in Transparency, everything changed.

"Transparency has eliminated a lot of stress for us, now that we've got Amazon watching our back and our brand," says Ticia Pinto, Director of Marketplace Growth.

The game-changer? In-house label printing. Groove Life can now print Transparency code labels on-site, maintaining their quick product launch cycles without transition periods. This flexibility has been crucial for protecting not only their own brand but also the intellectual property of major licensors they work with, including Marvel and DC Comics.

Kettle & Fire: A 10-Fold Return on Investment

For Kettle & Fire, product authenticity isn't just about brand protection. It's about customer health and safety. Their health-conscious customers rely on receiving authentic products with clean, organic ingredients.

"For us, getting people the authentic and right product is extremely important because we're talking about products that actually go into someone's body," explains Niccolò Gloazzo, Director of Ecommerce.

After enrolling in Transparency, Kettle & Fire saw immediate benefits:

  • Eliminated counterfeit products reaching customers
  • Ensured customers receive the exact product they ordered
  • Built genuine trust through scannable verification codes
  • Achieved at least a 10-fold return on investment

"Transparency has exceeded even our wildest expectations. It has taken all the hard work out of protecting our brand," says Niccolò.

How Transparency Protects Your Brand

Proactive Counterfeit Prevention: Every product enrolled in Transparency receives a unique serial code. Items without valid codes are flagged and prevented from shipping, whether fulfilled by Amazon or shipped directly by you.

Customer Engagement: Buyers can scan Transparency codes using the Amazon Shopping app or Transparency app to verify authenticity and access brand-provided materials like videos and product instructions.

Supply Chain Insights: Gain visibility into your products at the batch or lot level, helping you identify issues, diagnose root causes, and implement solutions quickly.

Flexible Integration: Use Transparency-generated codes or enable protections using your existing serialization system.

Getting Started is Simple

The Transparency onboarding process includes five straightforward steps:

  1. Enroll your brand and products
  2. Choose integration types and application methods
  3. Retrieve and apply Transparency codes
  4. Pass the Operational Performance Review (OPR)
  5. Activate and manage Transparency protections

Bottom Line

Whether you're protecting innovative products like Groove Life or ensuring health and safety like Kettle & Fire, Transparency delivers peace of mind, customer trust, and measurable ROI. Both brands report that enrolling in Transparency was one of their best business decisions.

What are you doing about rogue sellers reselling other brands that the brand owner doesn't sell on Amazon directly, that the seller is getting the listings changed to require transparency codes that don't exist from the brand owner, to have an illegal monopoly on the listing?

Amazon forced off off a few listings last year demanding transparency codes and since we are an authorized brick and mortar retailer and deal directly with the brand owner, we reached out to the brand owner, and they have no idea what a transparency code is, and have no idea who required it.

Now the rogue seller has the listings all to themselves, charging more than list price, giving Amazon's customers a poor buying experience by overcharging them for the item.

This would be nice except.... I have had a case open with Amazon for 24 DAYS NOW detailing how sellers are abusing the transparency code system to eliminate competition on mass market brands.

-I have shown Amazon EVERYTHING!!!

-I have shown how the UPC codes don't match the brands.

-I have shown Amazon photos of the case backs proving there are no transparency codes.

-I have shown Amazon screenshots of the GS1 data.

-I have shown Amazon thier own website proving unrelated items were merged.

-I have shown Amazon how this brand DOES NOT USE transparency codes.

-I have shown Amazon how the seller is supposedly MANUFACTURING A MASS MARKET BRAND FROM AN APARTMENT IN BROOKLYN!

-Absolutely every bit of proof that can be shown!

One seller is selling millions of dollars of inventory while using Amazon's assistance to eliminate competition.

AMAZON'S RESPONSE 24 DAYS LATER.......

Wait for it.......

Dramatic pause......

"CRICKETS"

YOU GOT IT! NOTHING!!!

Amazon apparently just supports this scam.

So, sorry, not real thrilled about your "program" right now!

Your system allows any seller to register a transparency item and have a complete monopoly on the listing even if they do not actually make the item. The system is very broken.

Or you could make this way easier and just stop allowing Chinese factories to ship fake/generic/counterfeit products to FBA. But you won't. You love that China counterfeit $$$.

What are we up to now? 60% of sellers are Chinese factories?

I'm sure by 2030 that will be 80%.

Hello,

This past summer a few other companies began claiming to sell a product my husband and I personally manufacture, using the ASIN for our product and thereby taking advantage of the reviews, algorithm, time and effort I put into designing the listing etc. I know for a fact that they are not providing the product described in this ASIN to customers that order from them because I have ordered from each of them and received what they are providing-also we have never sold a bulk order that would allow any other companies to be able to sell our product.

Over the past 6 months 6 different companies have made this claim. They are based in China so the shipping times for orders to be received is 4-6 weeks which allowed them plenty of time to destroy our sales and effectively our business overall while I attempted to gather evidence to show Amazon. The companies use different tracking numbers than what they initially provide with the order confirmation and do not include the company name on the package label that ultimately reaches the customers so it makes it difficult to prove that the package that I received is actually from the company that I purchased from-however, I was able to, by searching the tracking number that was on the package that I received, show a couple of time stamp and location matches to the falsely provided tracking information given at check out, to link each package I received back to the company I purchased from. 3 of the 5 packages I received had the same return address which I feel is important because I feel some of these companies are working together. I submitted reports of abuse in October but didn't yet have photos because of the lengthy shipping times and I never got an answer from Amazon regarding the result of their investigation and no action was taken. I submitted 5 separate reports of abuse in January 2026 because I finally received the shipments from each of the companies and was able to also provide tracking research to link each package to the 5 individual sellers.

After submitting the reports of abuse, I immediately received a response from Amazon that there were no issues found with the ASIN I was reporting there being a problem with. It's been almost three weeks and there has not been any further communication or action taken. I am not sure if I didn't report correctly so my reports aren't being investigated (?).

I used my customer prime account to purchase these 5 orders so I could not use the order numbers when reporting because Amazon said there was no record linking those orders to my sellers account.

My husband and I harvest, dry, dye and preserve foliage-just the two of us. We own and run the company ourselves. We just started selling with Amazon in March 2025 and had $3500 in sales in July 2025 but this has completely destroyed us- for example January 2025, our sales were less than $400 and that came from our other products. The ASIN in question is being offered by these other companies at less than half what we can sell it for because they are literally taking some dry weeds and sticking them in a bag and sending them to customers. The reviews can attest to this very sad fact. (I hate that our customers are receiving such horrible treatment)

I provided images of our product and our packaging to show the effort we put in and the quality we provide to our customers as well as to provide evidence to Amazon that the reviews on the product being received from these other companies are indeed reviews on the product these other companies are sending and not on the product described by the ASIN in question/the product we manufacture. I was hoping that Amazon could look at the reviews to see that the bad ones were in response to what these other companies were sending customers based on by whom these orders were shipped and from whom they were purchased. I sent pictures of the packaging and product being provided by the 5 other companies as well.

I am at a loss of what to do at this point. This is our main source of income and we have 2 kids. We were rockin and rollin last summer and this was our most popular product. I don't understand how Amazon is not taking this very seriously and stopping these other companies from selling on Amazon completely. Reports of abuse to not come with a case number for me to provide.

I understand that because we have not yet been approved by Brand Registry that people are allowed to sell the products we offer but that is not what is happening. They are not providing what is described in the listing in any way, shape or form. I do have our logo and business name registered with the USPTO and am am in the process of getting our boxes printed on so we meet the permanent affixation requirement to be approved for Brand Registry.

I was also told to file an IP (infringement) claim but when I tried to submit I received a message that stated that because the ASIN was associated with our business name I was unable to file the claim. I have spent dozens of hours on the phone with Amazon and in chats and filing reports and claims.

Please help.

On top of the issues sellers are reporting, which are a common black hat tactic, is the "official" policy for transparency still that any brand participating in it is REQUIRED to use TP labels on ALL their products that are enrolled, even if that specific item isn't destined for Amazon.com?

I know that was the case in the beginning, but it seems to no longer be enforced as a lot of brands have used TP to prevent others from selling on Amazon, which at least at the start was explicitly stated as not the point of TP. It was not meant to be used to make up for supply chain control issues on the brands end.

Here is my Forum post detailing the whole scam.

It's time, here it is:

AMAZON SUPPORTS THIS SCAM!!! THEY LOVE IT!!!

Think about it, if Amazon enables a seller to eliminate competition but they themselves don't eliminate competition off Amazon.com they can claim they know nothing about it.
