USPS Postal Service Slowdown

Hi @KJ_Amazon,

I don't know if you are aware but USPS has initiated a deliberate slowdown of their services for a very large majority of package recipients starting today. This is an even greater issue for the many post offices that refuse to scan individual packages but rather will only scan SCAN Forms such as my local post office. Part of the adopted plan also eliminates transiting packages on Saturdays. That has a massive impact not only of delivery speeds but also combined with the no end of day package pickups at the vast majority of local post offices.

This is marketed under the article entitled "USPS Is Enhancing Service Standards" on the USPS website.

"Allowing flexibility in regional transportation schedules, which may extend service expectations by one day for mail collected at certain Post Offices, while overall improving delivery speeds for mail and packages between regions."

That quoted text means that unless your local post office is within 50 miles of a regional center (most of the country is not); those packages will not be picked up until the following business day in the morning. This is an absolute nightmare scenario when sellers are stuck in the situation like us who are in a postal area where the post office refuses to scan individual packages. We lose all types of Amazon shipping protections at this point.

How does Amazon plan to address these changes made by this carrier?

They say that it will affect 11% of all packages which is nowhere near a "very large majority" of shipments.

Some will be but only about 1 in 9 items and those are likely going to or being shipped from VERY sparsely populated areas.

I believe there has already been a slowdown lately. Our OTDR has always been fine and "healthy" until the past few weeks when it had dropped a few percentage points every day. We are at around 70% today, This has never happened before with our account. Everything is shipped and scanned on time Most of the problem packages show "delayed in transit" somewhere in their tracking.

All part of the plan...to ruin the USPS and help out FedEx and UPS, who donated heavily to the campaign of Guess Who.

USPS was not an option for me to mail my packages today (I ALWAYS use USPS ground advantage) but USPS was not an option AT ALL (even Priority). Do you think this was just a glitch or is Amazon removing USPS from their labels? I CANNOT afford to ship $10 items via UPS of FEDEX.

You'll love this: My mail carrier told me she wouldn't ever buy Priority shipping because they don't treat it any differently than the regular mail! Wonderful....

Of course how else are they going to convince the majority of people the service sucks and they should sell it off to King Elon for dismantling and once it is gone it will never return and at the same time Amazon will punish you as we are seeing with items delayed in transit are now our fault and AtoZ is also giving customers full refund for items 1 day late due to USPS delay on items shipped using Amazon shipping WTH!

USPS to cut 10,000 workers through voluntary early retirement program

By Scott MacFarlane, Ed O'Keefe, Arden Farhi

Updated on: March 13, 2025 / 7:16 PM EDT / CBS News

Postmaster General Louis DeJoy told Congress in a letter Thursday that the USPS aims to eliminate 10,000 jobs using a voluntary early retirement program over the next 30 days to reduce costs at the financially strapped U.S. Postal Service.

I use media rate since I sell books and media. Amazon and the post office were pushing me to pay for USPS ground advantage, but when the two choices come up they both have the same delivery date. Why should I pay more for ground advantage if it's going to arrive the same as media?

Ya @Jim_Amazon @Glenn_Amazon and the rest, how does Amazon address this issue.

I had three "late delivery risks" labels today.

If the post office is going to go slower then you guys need to adjust your times accordingly, which you are obviously not.

Go back to estimated delivery for Seller Fulfilled and leave us be.
