High CPC Issues

How to tackle high CPC issues in the supplement category! And once we get ranked on top 5 positions, will the CPC reduce or is it just a myth!

My CPC is rising to $7 for TOS with very low CVR.

Amazon determines your final Cost Per Click (CPC) through a real-time, second-price auction, meaning you usually pay just $0.01 more than the next highest bidder, rather than your actual maximum bid. The price is high demand cats will always be higher than in lower demand ones. AMZ is not raising the prices, your competitors are!

Highly competitive keywords and product categories drive up CPC, especially during seasonal peaks like Prime Day or Black Friday, which you know it's Prime Day right now.... The bottom line is you need to focus your strategy on own Max Bid & Bidding Strategy. High ad spends need to be on HIGH profit, HIGH turn over items. You can do some research on the web so you can figure out how to get the most out of CPC.

Ranking higher can help improve performance metrics, but it does not automatically reduce CPC. CPC is primarily driven by competition in the auction. If multiple advertisers are aggressively bidding on the same supplement keywords, CPCs can remain high even when you're ranking in the top positions.

With a CPC around $7 and a low conversion rate, I would focus less on ranking and more on profitability. Some areas to review:

• Search term reports for high-spend, low-converting keywords that should be reduced or negated.

• Product detail page quality, pricing, reviews, and offers to improve conversion.

• Long-tail keywords that may have lower competition and lower CPCs.

• Placement reports to determine whether Top of Search is actually producing profitable sales.

• TACoS and overall profitability rather than keyword rank alone.

I've seen many sellers assume that reaching a top organic position will automatically lower CPCs, but in highly competitive categories such as supplements, strong rankings and high CPCs often coexist because advertisers continue bidding aggressively for the same traffic.

Out of curiosity, are you seeing the $7 CPC on branded terms, category terms, or highly competitive ingredient keywords?
