Reactive answer to a problem that should not exist in the first place. Almost no one changes the brand, especially to a Chinese company. Sad part is that there is no consequences for them.
Create a case , and they tell you you do not have permission to change the brand name
Report abuse results in an immediate response that there is no abuse
Report a violation results in an immediate response that there is no violation.
How about as soon as the listing is created with the brand, the brand is locked and you police the people internally that facilitate the hijacking.
Changes made to listings seem to be easy for the hijacker and impossible to correct even with overwhelming evidence.
What I would like?
(1) Besides this not being able to happen - for Amazon to send a notice a change has been made. I am brand registered. If somehow one of my products has a brand change I want to be notified.
(2) For Amazon to delete the hijacker's account. There are way too many forum threads about repeat offenders.
(3) For any sales the hijacker received - Amazon removes the income for the sales from the hijacker's account and adds the income to the defrauded seller's account.
(4) For Amazon to charge the hijacker for its investigation costs caused by the unauthorized actions in Amazon's system.
(5) To help prevent this criminal activity for Amazon to publicly make announcements of actions it has taken to remove accounts, to move sales revenue back to the legitimate seller, and to fine the hijacker with potential legal action to recover amounts, and for the cost of the trespass into Amazon's computer system.
(6) I don't know what community managers are, but I do know how terrible seller support is. Every case should be sent to the legal department for action.
Frankly, the fact Amazon has made this post is disconcerting. It shows Amazon is not secure and has lost control over its service such that it cannot prevent brand hijacking. Does Amazon have any US military contracts? If the company can't protect its own marketplace how can it be trusted with national security services?
We shifted tens of thousands of business aways from amazon due to listing sabotage with Amazon claiming only brand owner can fix while leaving all these wrong descriptions bad incorrect images conflicting brands and even knock off product active and the only reason that comes to mind why they do this as it generates more returns and more returns is more revenue in collected fees for Amazon so deceiving customers is good business!
Here's a solution to this... You want to change this brand name? Please reach out to the IP lawyer for this brand and request a code, like we need to when registering the brand on brand registry, what's the purpose of brand registry if anyone can change it at any given point in time. There needs to be two step protection for brand name changes, when the brand name is authorized at the beginning and attached to an ASIN, any changes to that ASIN should also require two step authenticaiton to make any changes- this solves all those issue in well two step.
It's really simple.
*edit - typo.
The same hijackers keep rehijacking brands and never get punished- I have been a victim of brand hijacking for years, this is a small list of our asin hijacking history, all brands named in is list are hijackers - I have a monitoring service that alerts us on the changes on the products we have created - because of the hijackers

Hello @Seller_6gxmduAZ4G44b,
Thanks for jumping in here and this is a lot of data, which I certainly appreciate and will look into.
Have you already done the steps mentioned on the initial post? If so, please start a new discussion and provide that relevant info. I expect I will be able to pull the ASINs from those cases and dive in and escalate where needed.
I am looking forward to working with you to hopefully get this issue resolved.
Best, Dougal
Hello Dougal, thank you for your effort to try to assist. At the moment, we are in the middle of the holiday rush and I spend most of my time managing the operations getting the order out on time or getting the orders. I just figured I will quickly chime in when I saw your initial post so I would not miss it. I will be able to circle back right after we get through the holiday season.
Creating reports, I have done so many times just for the ASINS to be rehijacked again, pretty much by the same actor.
In the meantime, here is a quick update
brand name changes since I posted last
11-21
QAVMEWVDAZCV ⇨ Katouigb
11-20
WeChoicing ⇨ Katouigb
looks like "Katouigb" is the latest "customer" of the brand HACKER
right now there are over 1,000 ASINs hijacked to this ""Katouigb"" brand - this brand hijacking is going on em masse, for years, but hundreds of thousands every day,
Amazon can simply put an end to it by tracing the entity (HACKER) who changed the brand ( in this case to """Katouigb""""" on all these asins and terminating that account, if they wanted to ...
Hi @Seller_6gxmduAZ4G44b,
Thanks for jumping in and thank you for this additional detail. Best of luck this holiday season and when you circle back, PLEASE start a new discussion so that I can focus on the evidence you are providing me specifically. I will investigate and escalate issues and my findings.
Please also keep in mind, I have to have an initial case ID before I can escalate...
Escalation to the appropriate team to resolve the issue.
I look forward to working with you when you are able.
Best, Dougal
Hi @Dougal_Amazon
Just happened to me. Case Id: 16696502671 ...the third time this year and pretty much in a row with only a few weeks between...thoug it took me over 6 weeks to get it sorted the last time.
How about patching whatever weakness in the system allows these brand changes?
If Amazon wanted to show that they were serious about their policies for Brand Names, and not changing brands, they should follow their own policies first.
If you check Various Amazon Renewed items under media items, you can quickly find that Amazon's Amazon Renewed product pages, rebrand renewed items, as the Brand Amazon Renewed, Even Though Amazon policies clearly state "Branding on products and packaging must be permanently affixed, which means it can’t be easily removed." (https://sellercentral.amazon.com/help/hub/reference/G2N3GKE5SGSHWYRZ)
We have opened cases pointing this out, and reported the issues surrounding it for some time. Yet it gets worse all the time. That doesn't even count the issues of duplicate product pages with different brand names, or pages with incorrect brand names in the first place. The worst we have seen is Amazon removing large sections of old media items from the catalog, due to mistakes in their system. As others have said no amount of evidence is enough to get Amazon to fix the mistake in their system.
You can see this very clearly with the example below.
Original Product: https://www.amazon.com/Super-Mario-Sunshine-GameCube/dp/B00176ZDQW
Renewed Product: https://www.amazon.com/Super-Mario-Sunshine-Renewed-GameCube/dp/B07KQFW7ZS
The real question is how is Amazon fighting back this issue?
are the bad actors removed immediately?
hi @Dougal_Amazon
Below is my unproven/conspiracy theory:
1. When Seller set the store on vacation, the ASIN is opening the door to the hackers. That was my experience and my ASIN has became a popular target for hackers
2. When an ASIN been hijacked once, it will be happen again. The hijackers probably has a list of popular/favorite ASIN that they can change the ASIN's attribute
3. The hijacked like to launch the attack on or before the peak sales season (ex. Prime Day, Black Friday, Cyber Monday)
4. Seller use gray market UPC when setting up the ASIN (prior 2020 the UPC attribute is required)
I found this post is a step in the right direction
I really appreciate the helps and supports from you and forum MODs
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays

Hello @Seller_6gxmduAZ4G44b,
Thanks for jumping in here and this is a lot of data, which I certainly appreciate and will look into.
Have you already done the steps mentioned on the initial post? If so, please start a new discussion and provide that relevant info. I expect I will be able to pull the ASINs from those cases and dive in and escalate where needed.
I am looking forward to working with you to hopefully get this issue resolved.
Best, Dougal

How about patching whatever weakness in the system allows these brand changes?
