Build to Order.

I have an idea for another product related to the one I already sell. The problem is that this product would have to be build-to-order as I don't want to pay up-front for the cost of manufacturing something that is going to sit on the shelves. I currently have the "Handling Time" set to 5 days for my current product, but Amazon clearly ignored this when it allowed a customer to buy something with "Two Day Delivery" and said that the product would in fact be shipped within a day to meet this.

I cannot turn off "Two Day Delivery" in my shipping template. Amazon ignores "Handling Time". How do I market a build-to-order product?

Some products are just not suited to be sold on Amazon and most likely this idea is one. All a byer has to do is complain to Amazon Customer Service, truthful or not, and the CS Rep will refund in full, from your account, even if the product is Non-Refundable.

Do you one your own website URL? Selling it there may be best.

OP: " I currently have the "Handling Time" set to 5 days for my current product, but Amazon clearly ignored this when it allowed a customer to buy something with "Two Day Delivery""

Yes, Amazon does this. We have over 80,000 items set to 5 days as the default. We do ship within 2 hours of the order coming thru, though. The Amazon Bot seems to know this and sets 2 days shown to buyer on all the listings.

This makes me wonder -- it's just a check box -- you cannot uncheck?

Have you allowed automation for shipping template?

Any form of premium shipping (not expedited) will ignore handling time.

I don't know what "SSA-enabled" means.

I don't trust that button. I know my templates do not allow SSA (automation), but the button makes it appear active. I don't want to mess with it. So not sure what it looks like in the other position.

Hi there @Seller_wP06ObHUTB6Y7,

Thank you for reaching out with your concern. In general you should be able to adjust if you disable the Shipping Settings Automation on the template or make a new template for products like this. Please note however be very careful with this strategy. You will need to review your shipping settings very carefully to ensure they will meet your needs. If you have any difficulties please provide your Seller Support Case ID and we can see what escalation options we can provide. Thank you.
