Listing Lounge Presents: Crisp Conversations about Country of Origin (COO)

We are excited here in the Listing Lounge about Fall as @Manny_Amazon shared in their latest discussion called, ‘Harvesting Leaves and Fresh Ideas: What do you want to see talked about in the Listings Lounge?’ It’s a transition period from warm summer sunshine to chillier weather and with moisture in the air.

And speaking of transitions, there are quite a few regulatory laws and policies going into effect in 2025 that we want to ensure sellers are prepared for. Some of which @Michelle_Amazon covered in their post here.

An update that came to our attention, thanks to our sellers asking for assistance in the forums, was about the new deadline requesting Country of Origin Information. If you haven’t seen the Performance Notification already, sellers are being notified to provide Country of Origin information on all their offers by December 31, 2024. This is to ensure products are meeting regulatory requirements when exporting to either non-European Union (EU) countries or territories into the EU, or From EU and non-EU countries or territories into the UK.

What is Country of Origin (COO for short)?

The COO of a product is generally the country where the product was wholly produced or manufactured. If more than one country is involved in the product’s production or manufacture, the COO is generally where the last "substantial transformation" of the product occurred.

Providing COO information is a mandatory requirement for FBA listings. If you believe that you must not be required to provide the COO information for your listings, contact Selling Partner Support to check on your eligibility.

Not providing COO information for your product has the following impact on your FBA listings:

  • New Selection: You will be unable to create new listings without selecting your product’s COO information from the drop-down menu.
  • Existing Selection: You must provide COO information for all your existing listings in scope. All listings still missing COO information on December 31, 2024, will be restricted from crossing into and out of the EU and UK.

How do I find my COO information?

If you do not know the Country of Origin for your listings, you must contact your supplier who should be able to provide you with this information.

I highly recommend you check out the help page linked →HERE← as more commonly questions are discussed such as:

  • How do I know which of my SKUs are missing COO?
  • How do I update the COO for my products in bulk?
  • Can I change COO information?

To wrap up this edition of the Listing Lounge regarding Country of Origin, we want to know:

➡️ “What is the most interesting place you have seen a product manufactured and what was the product?” ⬅️

Feel free to leave your response in the comments below. Have a wonderful rest of the week! ~ Cooper_Amazon
