Does Amazon provide this service or are we being scammed?

Hey all,

I'm hoping someone can shed some light on this and looking for the communities input.

Someone in my company has been contacted by Amazon, or at least they THINK they are speaking to someone at Amazon. This "Amazon" rep (I'm not convinced it is actually Amazon) is claiming that they will create listings for a couple new product lines if we make the products and we will still own and control the brand these products are under (We have a factory that can make these items). They also claim that they will improve our current listings on a few brands we own and run advertising for them (paid for by who I am not sure).

They are also asking us to create an entirely new seller central account, even though we already have a fairly successful account.

I've not heard of Amazon ever offering services like this. I've never looked either so maybe I just haven't heard of them and it does exist? I know back in the day Vendor Central did some very basic services like this, but I thought that had been phased out. And I have not heard of any talk of this idea being anything other then FBA fulfillment. This just screams third party fake Amazon get rich quick scheme.

Is this person in my company being scammed? Is there an Amazon service that would do all this???

"Someone in my company has been contacted by Amazon, or at least they THINK they are speaking to someone at Amazon. "

Have you thought of actually picking up the phone and calling Amazon HQ and asking them?

If you REALLY want to light a fire to see, send an inquiry to Amazon LEGAL asking them if the person is actually an employee or if they are an imposter. If it's a scam, legal would be quite interested!

These are the most recent addresses I that found on a different (more useful) Forum for the legal beagles…………...

I would run away. Creating a new seller account and selling in the same category? Just the fact of suggesting this shows that they have no idea.

Well it looks like it is a legit Amazon Rep who contacted us. There title is "Account Representative | Amazon Fashion & Fitness" and from what I'm hearing, I think they must be pushing Amazon SAS.

What was said to me that this rep is claiming they can do, does not sound like SAS, but it's my guess that im just being told incorrectly what this Amazon rep is saying. Or the rep is way overpromising what SAS can do.

Thanks for the advice folks!

Hello @Seller_v16x17sNxDtky

Thank you for posting your inquiry to the Forums.

I came across your thread and wanted to provide some guidance. If you encounter a similar situation in the future, you can request that the representative send you correspondence through a new case. You should then see a new case in your case log from the representative to confirm that they are an Amazon representative. I have included some help pages below that provide guidance on how to identify spoofed emails in case you receive email correspondence that you are unsure if it is from Amazon:

In this specific case, if you would like to check if the representative was from Strategic Account Services, I would suggest utilizing the Contact Us feature on the SAS Home Page and list your question in the bottom field.

Regards,
