Selling Costco Products

Rookie Question:

I'm getting mixed reviews.

Is it ok to scan all products in Costco and post to my store for resale; considering I have an EIN, reseller's permit and a Costco reseller's membership.

The idea is to get an order, pick up from Costco and ship myself.

Thanks for insight and direction.

I am curious about the answer to this. Would you make enough of a profit to make it worth your time & effort? And what if the item sells out before you have a sale for it?

Some things to consider

If Amazon asks for the invoice of the product sold, will Costco supply an invoice or will you be getting a receipt? Usually, it is a receipt from Costco and not an invoice therefore will not be accepted by Amazon.

Does the product you will be buying allow you to sell the product online and/or Amazon specifically? Do you have a letter of authorization for that product with the manufacturer? In most cases, this will not be the case and will lead to Amazon pulling your listing.

On Amazon, you must maintain supply chain integrity to avoid IP claims and counterfeit claims. You may very well have brand XYZ product ... but without proper supply chain channels and authorizations ... Amazon could consider your product as counterfeit. In addition, items that you buy and receive a receipt would be considered as used and not new.

Retail arbitrage style of business has gotten quiet a few sellers suspended and have lost their right to sell on the platform.

We suggest spending some time reading the Seller Help pages on listings and sourcing products.

This would be a good link to start with from Seller University

Hi @Seller_bk1B99hZFKFRI

Thanks so much for the thread and welcome to the Forums!

As Lost_My_Marbles has mentioned in their reply on this thread, I would recommend checking out the Seller University article that provides guidelines to sourcing products to sell on Amazon (found here).

I would also recommend taking a look at this thread here. There you will find another thread about selling Costco products (although in a slightly different manner than you describe, you may find some helpful information).

Please let me know if you have any additional questions!

Thanks again!
