Update on the Handmade Listing Process

Dear Handmade Selling Partners,

As part of the reclassification of existing Handmade products from GUILD product types to standard product types, when creating a new listing or editing an existing listing or variation, you will now be required to provide a Product ID or to request a Product ID Exemption.

Product IDs are part of a system of unique identifiers called Global Trade Item Numbers (GTINs). The specific GTIN required varies by category. The requirements of each category, including exceptions and exemptions where available, are summarized in the table on the Product ID (GTIN) requirements by category.

The following are the most common GTINs used to create Amazon catalog pages:

• Universal Product Code (UPC)

• European Article Number (EAN)

• If you tried to add your products via a feed and received a listing error, use Add a product to view the approval requirements for the ASIN that returned the error.

If your product does not have a product ID or GTIN, you can request a GTIN exemption.

GTIN exemption is by product type, so you will only need to submit a GTIN exemption request once per product type. Please note, at this time Handmade uses Guild Product Types but in the future when Handmade migrates to Amazon standard product types, you may have to request an exemption again.

You can learn about requesting a GTIN exemption here.

While listing your product and filling in attributes, select “I do not have a Product ID”. If you do not have a Product ID and receive an error stating “GTIN exemption is required”, select apply now.

You can verify if you have been exempt by reviewing your Applications Dashboard in Seller Central.

ADDITIONAL BEST PRACTICES:

An additional best practice when listing your product is to Select “All Attributes” on the left hand side of the listing experience, to ensure you see all available and required attributes. For example, if you are not viewing “all attributes” you may miss the required attribute “color”.

Warm regards,

The Handmade team

Just trying to edit a listing following this and External product id is filled in with the ASIN, locked and uneditable. I want to update the photos. All my photos show here: These images are currently used by Amazon as part of this product listing.

Yet only the first image shows here: Your product images Upload your product images.

Why are my images not there?

Will requesting an exemption fix this?

@priscilla_amazonGood info but... I already have GTIN exemption and still cannot make new listings or edit existing ones.

Pictures are missing, try to add pictures - get attribute errors everywhere.

States I need product id - click I don't have product Id - Says I need GTIN exemption - click on that and it says I already have it (I already know this but apparently the system is broken and not acknowledging existing database info)

So nothing is working. When is the ETA for a fix on this?

My listing process page does not even give me the "apply for exemption" option when I check the "I don't have a product ID" box.

I'd be surprised if any Handmade products have a GTIN. Why can't Handmade sellers automatically be provided an exemption - instead of creating a massive headache for all of us and every type of product we offer?

I have a GTIN and filled out the color and required attributes, still a bunch of "invalid attribute" messages. This has been 3 days of trying. Something needs to be done to fix this!

Called customer support yesterday 8/7/24 case 15793613921 and they told me not to do a GTIN exemption because amazon was in the process of fixing the Product Id issue for handmade.

Moving forward - I Applied for exemption. I am able to create a product listing but I can only add 1 photo or I get invalid attributes error for each photo Im trying to add. How can we get this fixed?

Nope - not fixed. Still can't add products - have an exemption and still just get errors:

An error occurred when we tried to process your request. We apologize for the inconvience.

Rest assured that we are working to resolve the problem as soon as possible. Please try again at a later time.2024-08-08T23:08:16.500Z T5K6T1W71XY1MR9T1YGG

-The attributes are invalid.

-The attributes are invalid.

-The attributes are invalid.

-The attributes are invalid.

How about Amazon revert back to what has been working for years and do more testing in a playground environment before inflicting this on sellers?

correct me if I’m wrong please, but I was under the impression that once you file for an gtin exemption it removes your brand name, is this true? If so, I will not be adding any products as I refuse to let go of my brand name.

So it is true that Amazon is trying to drive out all 3rd-party sellers, starting with Handmade.
