I have had several books in the past year marked for a policy violation. Amazon's algorithm seems very inconsistent and arbitrary in determining fair price. Policy claims that the book offer price and the shipping fee are factors in determining if the price is fair or excessive. Amazon considers current public carrier rates, reasonable handling charges, as well as buyer perception when determining whether a shipping price violated our fair pricing policy.
I have a new book offered at 19.99 and another seller has the same book in veery good condition offered at 19.95 plus 3.99 shipping. How is my book price excessive?

I wanted to stop by and share the feedback one of my colleagues @Stevie_Amazon wrote a few months ago to a seller in a similar situation:
Amazon's Marketplace Fair Pricing policy has been established in order to maintain attainable, low prices for all customers. Amazon regularly monitors the prices of items on our stores, including shipping costs, and compares them with other prices available to our customers.
Depending on the exact message you are receiving, you will need to take action in order to relist the impacted product.
There is also a pricing health page which shows a number of great options and best practices for you to utilize. This page shows:
There is also a chance for you to automate pricing for items if need be.
Please let us know if you have any questions regarding the information provided above or share the CASE ID filed with support that is related to your pricing concerns so we may begin to investigate the issue. Looking forward to hearing back from you soon.
