2024 HOLIDAY HOURS FOR THE USPS

ATTENTION ALL FBM SELLERS:

I just read the 8.5x11 paper that my Post Office has taped to the service windows that showed the USPS Holiday Hours for 2024.

USPS is CLOSED on December 25th (as one would expect).

USPS closes EARLY on December 24th, AT NOON.

This means that all the orders we receive Friday-Sunday, that WILL be required to be in the Carrier's possession by close of business Tuesday, 12-24-24 MUST be in the Carrier's Possession BY NOON Tuesday, 12/24/24.

This represents a LOSS of 5 working hours to complete processing of all orders received during the weekend.

SO, PLAN ACCORDINGLY.

I am already preparing for a Night Shift on Monday to compensate for the loss of 5 working hours on Tuesday.

These hours are repeated for Tuesday, 12/31/24 (CLOSES AT NOON) and 01/01/25 (CLOSED ALL DAY).

I hope this reaches you all in-time.

Good Luck!

This varies by location, and is not unusual. Noon is the earliest I've heard of, but everyone should check their local office (mine usually closes at 2:00)

Personally, I usually have the carrier pick up at my door, but for 12/24, I plan to take it in myself; I don't want to be in the situation of the carrier deciding to start Xmas early, and not having an open office to take it to.

I am surprised that this is not uniform, as it is a Federal system, not a state or municipal system.

The needs vary by locale. I recall one PO where I used to live that closed early on Wednesdays; although it was a small branch PO, not the one with the zip assigned, so not a major deal (not sure why Wednesday is special; banks closed early too). My current local one closes for a bit over an hour every day for the only person working there to take lunch, and it closes at 4:30. OTOH, there is another one a few miles away open until 6:00; and if I'm willing to pay a toll to cross the bridge, branches open until 10:30 (I think; not willing to pay the toll, so I don't keep track).

And yes, thanks for posting. Good info. I even mentioned on the other forum I frequent, where sellers ask sellers. ;-)
