Extortion email first, then fake AI review – this is a scam ring

Hey guys,

Quick one.

We got an extortion email about a week ago – pay up or we’ll hurt your listing. Ignored it.

Then days later, a 1-star review pops up. The text is pure AI nonsense – it talks about our aluminum valve cover having issues and mentions "oil separator deformation."

Here’s the thing: we only sell PLASTIC valve covers. No aluminum, no oil separator. The review doesn't even match our product. It’s just random words slapped together.

So yeah – extortion first, fake AI review right after. Same playbook.

What we did:

Screenshot the email

Reported the review

I want Amazon to actually look into this. It's not just about one listing – it's a whole scam ring.

Anyone else been hit like this? How did you push Amazon to act? Is there a better team to contact?

Thanks.

If they are threatening you or your business, that is a federal crime. In addition to what you did, you can also report them to the FBI.

Amazon won't let me post a link, but it's pretty easy to find.

Hello @Seller_GPZXexHQpLx7E

Thank you for reaching out and providing those details. I understand the urgency here, and I appreciate you documenting everything.

To help move this forward, I need to confirm a couple of things. Did you use the Report a Violation button directly on the review to report it to our team? This is different from the general reporting tools and ensures the review gets flagged for investigation.

Additionally, if you haven't already opened a case with Seller Support directly regarding this issue, I'd recommend doing so through Contact Us in Seller Central. When you create that case, include the email details, the review ID, and a note that the review mentions products you don't sell. Once you have a case ID, please share it here so I can help escalate this to the appropriate team for investigation into the coordinated pattern you're seeing.
