Read onlyReceived notification today (Saturday, April 12) of sale for a book. FBM, and not Prime. Ship by date is April 15-16. Deliver by date is April 21 - May 6. Attempted to use Amazon Buy Shipping. I am not offered USPS Bound Printed Matter, nor USPS Media Mail, nor USPS Ground Advantage, nor USPS Priority Mail. The only USPS option I am offered is USPS Priority Express Mail starting at $ 27.00. I am also offered a couple of Fedex and USPS options all starting at $ 11.00 and up. The only unusual thing I see about the Order is that the buyer has an Address Type of "Commercial" and that the business hours displayed include closed on Saturday, Sunday, and Friday. (Buyer is a university library. Perhaps the library is closed this coming Good Friday, I don't know.) When I scroll down to the "grayed out" ineligible shipping methods, I find that the USPS Bound Printed Matter, USPS Media Mail, USPS Ground Advantage, and USPS Priority Mail, and the cheaper FedEx and UPS options all state: "Does not meet business operating hours." I get the same result regardless if I choose today (April 12) or Monday (April 14) as the shipping date..
What do the buyer's business hours have to do with my ability to see the full range of shipping options on Buy Shipping through Amazon? To me, this sounds like a programming error that Amazon should be able to diagnose and fix. I've opened a case with Seller Support which is still pending. Here are the relevant numbers: Order Number 112-0721996-5017831; SKU: VF-URS3-0GYL; ASIN: B0045VAUGE. Case Number is 17575009471. Thank you moderators for taking an interest and thank you other sellers for sharing any similar experiences and solutions.
Addendum: I just changed the shipping date to Tuesday, April 15. When I do this, I am now offered USPS Bound Printed Matter, USPS Media Mail, USPS Ground Advantage, etc. This is really weird! I still think this is being caused by some kind of programming error in Amazon's system.
So if I buy a USPS shipping label that is dated Tuesday, April 15, do I have to wait until that day to present the package to the post office? Or can the post office perform a valid acceptance scan on Monday, April 14?
