What is the Amazon Reference Number used for?
On the BOL for FBA Shipments, they have the BOL the same as the FBA shipment ID.
The Amazon PO Id on the BOL is the same as the Amazon Reference ID on the shipment summary.
So why are they called different names? And does anyone use these various/random Amazon ID numbers (besides the FBA Shipment ID)?
What is the Amazon Reference Number (ARN) used for?
We are getting a new system for our company and trying to figure out the best plan of action to incorporate our Amazon information; shipments, sales, fees, returns, damages, etc.
Please see attached.
Looking forward to see what other sellers use for the best way to track everything.
Thank you

Hi @Seller_tzb0Adb4whsRu, I love this post! This is exactly the type of conversations I think the forums needs. Hopefully we can get some other Selling Partners to chime in here with their best practices, but I'll do my best to guide you for now.
The most important piece of information is the Shipment ID, that FBAXXXXXXXXX number. You should also keep the BOL document in case you need to reconcile for lost units down the line. I would imagine some of these other numbers may change based on the carrier (partnered vs non-partnered). You might need the PO ID for accounting purposes. The ARN is used internally by some teams, so I wouldn't throw it away, but it's unlikely that you would be asked for it.
Let me know if this is helpful at all or if you have any other questions.
