USPS Never Scanned in My Package

So I had an order for a book come in on Sunday. I handed it off to my USPS carrier in a tub with others on Monday. I was checking the tracking and see that as of Wedns. that there as been absolutely no tracking updates and its past the SHIP BY date... I have never had this problem before and wanted to ask, what would be recommended in this situation? Thank you and happy holidays.

This may or may not help, but can't hurt.

Go to the USPS tracking site (not another site that checks it for you), and check the tracking. Then ask for updates to be texted to you.

I use this when packages get "stuck", and almost always, within a few hours, tracking will show up; sometimes, it's info that is time-stamped prior to my request. At the very least, you can hopefully get at least something showing up.

Good luck!

We have had this happen to us. It's not common, but it can be extreme. Sometimes we've had shipments remain un-scanned all the way from New York to Los Angeles.

I'm not sure how or why, but it's definitely a USPS glitch or issue.

USPS scanning/tracking is sporadic at best. If you must have accurate tracking, UPS or FedEx is the only way to ensure it.

I stand there and get a receipt from the clerk.

If you just hand them a bunch of packages and walk away then it becomes your fault for not making sure your packages weren't scanned.

Enjoy the Christmas time mess ups from our glorious Postal service. This is the worst time of the year for USPS to "act right". You have to pay for USPS mistakes if you want to sell on Amazon successfully. 15 year veteran says there is no way to beat USPS mistakes. We have tried countless times.

We use Endicia for shipping to keep track of our shipments, it compiles all orders into one scan form with a single barcode that uploads all tracking number to the USPS system. This eliminates having to wait and hope they get each one scanned in correctly or at all.

The ship by date is that which YOU have to create the label and ship the item by. If you created a label, then you should enter the tracking number by the ship by date. All of that has nothing to do with whether the USPS has scanned it or not. The on-time delivery rate is dependent on the what the USPS scans and yes, they sometimes don't scan a package until it is delivered. I have had many packages that show no scans until the delivery. As long as you have created the label and entered the tracking number on time, then your late shipment rate should be fine. If the USPS doesn't deliver it or scan it at all, that would affect your on-time delivery rate.

Sometimes this happens to me because I drop my stuff at the post office and sometimes they don't scan it as received. I have never had it actually become an issue. Normally, the next hub scans it in, although occasionally, it has taken all the way until final hub or even delivery for another scan.

Your metrics may or may not be impacted, depends on how long it remains un-scanned but if this is the only item of many, it probably won't really hurt your metrics and it only lasts a very short time even if it put you over the top. I would follow it as someone said, get the tracking notices but don't lose any sleep.
