pesticide claim bots and I never get a human.

The Amazon BOTs are out of control. We sell an irrigation valve that specifically prevents contaminating of the drinking water system, and Amazon is telling us to remove the word “anti- contaminate”. But that’s it’s only purpose, that’s what it does.

It’s as if I was selling white paint and they’re telling us to list it without using the word white, doesn’t that make any sense?

Ask ChatGPT “does an Anti-Siphon Valve prevent contaminate the water system?”

Every time we attempt to communicate with Amazon the reply we receive in an obvious BOT, and frankly Amazons over use of the BOTs is offensive, disrespectful and completely insulting to their sellers. We make a good effort to provide the requested information and then Amazon sends a cut and paste BOT reply. How sad is that? Why are they so discourteous that they can’t have a real, English speaking human deal with our concerns?

I have spent more than an hour to provide Amazon the information, and each time the BOT replies…. It’s sad…. Human on one side, BOT on the other, how will we ever communicate properly?

Hi @Seller_hnjiSkY5cGF3B,

I understand your frustration with both the "anti-contaminate" restriction and dealing with automated responses. Let me share what I found when looking at Amazon's Pesticide Marking help page that might explain what's triggering their system:

  1. While your product is an irrigation valve (not a water filter), the help page mentions water-related products including "water filters" when discussing items that may require pesticide marking. Though these are different types of products, it looks like their system pays special attention to devices related to water systems.
  2. Under common pesticide claims that trigger the system, it lists phrases like "Prevents, blocks, removes, neutralizes or controls bacteria or other pests"

Based on this, I think the combination of your product being a water-system device and using terms like "anti-contaminate" might be triggering these automated checks, even though your valve operates through purely mechanical means.

What I'd suggest trying:

  • Describe the valve's function in more mechanical terms, like "backflow prevention valve" or "one-way water flow valve"
  • Focus on describing how it works (mechanical barrier) rather than what it prevents
  • Avoid terms like "anti-" or "prevents contamination" which can trigger the automated checks

Hopefully these suggestions help you navigate the system.

Best regards, Michael
