Hello Amazon Community and Moderators,
I have been selling on Amazon for 15 years and now urgently need assistance regarding the suspension of our new product - international travel adapter.
The suspension was due to alleged violations of Canadian safety standards, stating:
"Your product has been identified as a 3-Prong to 2-Prong Adapter Grounding Outlet Converter or Electrical Adapter. These products do not meet Canadian safety standards and are prohibited for sale or listing on Amazon.ca."
While it is true that cheater plugs are restricted for sale, our product is an international travel adapter designed for use overseas. The Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and Ontario Electrical Safety Authority (ESA) Code, based on the latest 2021 CEC, provide an exemption for such products:"(d) Equipment designed for use outside Ontario. You don’t need approval for electrical equipment intended solely for use outside Ontario, because no applicable Canadian standard or certification program applies. An example would be travel adapter plugs for using electrical equipment overseas."
Before listing our product, we also reached out to Seller Support for clarification regarding necessary certifications. They confirmed that compliance with UL/CSA 60950-1 or UL/CSA 62368-1 was required. Our product is certified with UL/CSA 62368-1, a standard it would not pass if it were restricted.
While I hesitate to point at other products, there are thousands of items, including identical ones made by our supplier for other brands, listed and shipped to customers by thousands monthly. Despite this, our listing has been shut down, and I'm receiving same canned responses from Amazon we all love. Seems no one is willing to examine the details and understand the difference. What is the best way to address this issue?
Can any of moderators help to get our case escalated and properly reviewed?
Thank you for your assistance.
Hey @Seller_ZC6iPJ29O6WkT,
Love the details you provided here, and of course! I would be more than happy to assist here.
About that certification, you raised a seller support case for that, would you be willing to share that case ID to have it as evidence for a possible escalation?
I will try my best here with the resources I have available.
