Dropshipping - questions about return and shipping settings!
Hello everyone,
I’m new here and I’m setting up my account. I will use dropshipping from Italy but I have some questions about returns and shipping settings:

What shipping address do you put in the default shipping address if you use dropshipping? Do I have to use my address, or I have to ask the dropshipping company to provide me their address?

The drop shipper has a return period of 20 days which is less than Amazon’s return period. I already added this information to the return instructions, do I have to do something else that the costumers get aware about this return period? Also, which one of the return authorization and prepaid labels do I have to choose?

This isn’t going to end well for you. Put your account on vacation mode. Read up on how Amazon works, not how your drop shipper works.

It does not matter that your drop shipper only let’s you return for 20 days, you must accept Amazon’s return policy. So right now you would need to accept returns until Jan 31. Normally you would need to accept returns for 30 days.
If you can’t do that, you cant sell on Amazon

You will use your own address for the return address, and accept the returns yourself.

Stating a return policy of 20 days is against Amazon policy and will get you suspended if you try to apply the shorter return policy.
Your return period MUST match Amazon’s return policy. PERIOD.
At present any order after Oct 1 can be returned until Jan 31. (extended Amazon holiday return policy)
After Dec 31 the return period is 30 days after DELIVERY of the package.
Since you items are being shipped from Italy that will add at least another week or more after the order was placed.
Your ship from address must be the drop shippers address.
This is the only way the buyer will know what to expect as to what the actual delivery time will be.
You must provide a US address for returns.
If you do not or cannot for any reason then you are responsible for return shipping costs no matter what the reason (even buyer faulted) or you must refund without return.

Add to that, if the customs paperwork or any other paperwork in the shipment includes the name of the dropshipper or a price lower than the sale price, you will be in violation of the Amazon dropship policy.
To recap, you have an issue with the Amazon returns policies, you need a US return address, you must be the importer of record and the only company shown on the paperwork, and add to that that all purchases by buyers on amazon.com who are in the USA must receive their order without any duty to be paid.
You have a hard row to hoe before you can list and get an order without putting your account in jeopardy.

Let’s read the actual policy and then you can decide what your options may be:
Drop shipping, or allowing a third party to fulfill orders to customers on your behalf, is generally acceptable. If you intend to fulfill orders using a drop shipper, you must always:
- Be the seller of record of your products;
- Identify yourself as the seller of your products on all packing slips and other information included or provided in connection with them;
- Be responsible for accepting and processing customer returns of your products; and
- Comply with all other terms of your seller agreement and applicable Amazon policies.
Examples of drop shipping that is not permitted:
- Purchasing products from another online retailer and having that retailer ship directly to customers; or
- Shipping orders with packing slips, invoices, or other information indicating a seller name or contact information other than your own.
Failure to comply with these requirements may result in the suspension or removal of your selling privileges.

You should go to Youtube and look at some of the drop shipping videos. Drop shipping esp. from China is a crap shoot.
Let me tell you my story. I saw this floating adv. for a winter hat scarf set. So not paying much attention to the site, I ordered the set. Which I thought was coming from a USA company. It took 30 days!!! to arrive. And the return requirements: Return to China, the company that manufactured the scarf & hat set. That would have cost me what I paid and there was no guarantee I would get my Paypal refund. So I filed a dispute with PP because the hat & scarf were CHEAP QUALITY and shed. The company countered, and they won. That’s $35 down the drain, and I swear I will be more careful.
I would never order from someone that I thought was drop shipping from China. Now, have you inspected the quality of the product? Probably not, because you didn’t fly to China to look at the factory and its workers. Did you get samples? Maybe, but it’s probably cheap qualify. If I were you, I would find someone on Etsy who is doing the exact thing China is doing and it’s home-made. It may be more to manufacture but at least it will be quality and there will be returns. 20 days returns is nothing! You have to offer 30 days return.

Dropshipping has to be a giant headache. I have many buyers dropship and they use incorrect addresses (lousy copy paste skills) and make shipping requirement demands. Plus, 29 days later, they try everything to get their money back. I am almost at the point where I will cancel orders and tell them to do their own shopping and shipping. Dropshippers are on the bottom of my list of desirable buyers.
