Accused of account related to Product Reviews

I received the following email titled “Notice: Policy Warning” from " reviews-seller-appeals@amazon.ca"

Dear ,

We have determined that your account is related to accounts that have written Amazon customer reviews for products that you have a financial interest in. This may include products that you or your competitors sell.

Why did I receive this message?

Family members, close friends, or employees of a seller on Amazon may not write reviews for the seller’s items or negative reviews for items sold by that seller’s competitors. Sellers are not allowed to manipulate ratings, feedback, or customer reviews. Learn more about this policy in Seller Central Help ([https://sellercentral.amazon.ca/gp/help/200386250].

Amazon strives to maintain customer trust and provide the best possible shopping experience. As a result, we will investigate when we learn that sellers, vendors, or others have attempted to manipulate reviews. This includes offers of compensation in exchange for reviews.

If this continues, it may result in account deactivation.

We’re here to help.

If you have questions about this policy or your account, please search for “Prohibited seller activities and actions” in Seller Central Help (https://sellercentral.amazon.ca/gp/help/200386250).

You can view your account performance at ____ or select Account Health on the home screen of the Amazon Seller app on your iOS or Android device. The Account Health dashboard shows how well your account is performing against the performance metrics and policies required to sell on Amazon.

Thank you,
-Amazon

Anyone seen this before? I have never paid anyone to review my products, asked any friends or family to review my products, or in any way encouraged my customers to review my products. I don’t own any of the brands that I sell, so honestly I don’t care all that much about product reviews in the first place, so I’ve never even attempted to get people to review them.

They don’t give me any information on what product(s) they are referring to, or who reviewed it or whatever.

What should I be doing in this case? My Account Health page shows 0 policy violations, but I know its usually behind by a few days. What should I be doing to prevent any issues regarding this?

Thanks!

Just got the same warning! What’s going on with Amazon…

I had a similar warning a few years ago. I sell in the grocery category and most of the products I sell have very few product reviews so I knew that no new reviews had been left in weeks. The only thing I can think of is I left a review for a movie on Amazon Prime (Ad Astra, terrible movie) on my personal Amazon account. Since then I’ve made it a policy to never leave reviews on Amazon - period.

This will fall off your account in 180 days and should have no long-term repercussions unless it becomes a pattern.

I did appeal the warning which showed up on my account later in the day, and today the warning is no longer displayed on my account. I am very relieved and hope that this is the end of it! I was so stressed all day and barely slept trying to think of what might have caused this, and how I can control what anyone I know outside of my immediate family is buying or reviewing. I did not get any reply that they had sided with me or that it was sent in error, but I am assuming that it is good news that the warning is now gone. I would love to know if it was an error, or which asin caused this so I could hope to figure out how it happened (if at all), but I doubt I will ever have that answer.

My takeaway from this, control what you can control. Never leave any Amazon reviews for any products you buy even if completely unrelated to what you sell, and tell anyone close enough to you that will listen to do the same. I would say don’t allow anyone to connect their devices to your wifi in case that creates a link and they leave a product review. Obviously I can’t know or control what all my friends are buying and reviewing, but its definitely not worth the risk just to give your opinion on a purchase. I plan to delete all my old reviews just in the unlikely event that they can ever be linked to any of my products through an update to some convoluted algorithm.

Good luck to the rest of you if you had this same warning!

Hi @Lettuceguy,

Thank you for your post, Belle here to provide assistance.

I understand that you have some concerns regarding the customer product reviews policy violation on your account and would like to provide some guidance.

Firstly, we would like to thank you for your prompt action on appealing the violations and are glad to hear that the warning is no longer shown on your account.

Amazon has specific policies that are meant to protect buyer reviews authenticity, and selling partners should comply with these policies and report any violations they might notice.

For your easy reference, we would like to share the relevant polices here:

The performance notification you received suggests possible scenarios such as:

  • An Amazon customer that is related to you has written a review for you for an item you are selling.
  • An Amazon customer that is related to you has written a negative review for another seller that is selling an item you are selling.

We encourage you to investigate if anyone around you owns an Amazon buyer account and shops on Amazon. If yes, please investigate if there were any possible areas which can cause this violation.
If you have not requested for anyone related to you to help leave a review, please continue to ensure that your team does not take part in any review manipulation.

In the meantime, do your best to always monitor the account health dashboard and your performance notifications to stay up to date on the metrics that impact your account.

For further communication, you may create a case and describe your issue in detail. This way, you will allow the relevant team to look into your issue.

Thank you @Rockin_B_Games @The_Sawle_Mill @Portugalia_Sales @ABQ_Fulfillment for sharing your experience as well.

We hope the above information is helpful, thank you!

Regards,
Belle

Just curious if any of you guys who received a warning uses a USPS or UPS box as your business address? I’m wondering if the bots would associate anyone else using that business address (different box # of course, but still, we’re talking about bots here) as “related” to you?
