I just got approved for my seller account yesterday.. I got on and immediately switched it to an Individual account and received a message saying " since your account has already been charged, your changes will go into effect the next billing cycle" ... I have added my debit and credit card multiple times and I still get a pop up message saying "Your access to Seller Central is currently restricted due to an invalid charge method. " .. Is Amazon really trying to charge me the $40 already?? I am afraid to move money in my account because I'm not sure what they are doing...

A debit card is ok for taking fees, but they are saying you need a valid credit card to sell on Amazon.
Hi @Seller_x2QjCnUYU9s6t
Connor from Amazon here, thanks for reaching out.
I see that you signed up for the professional account, the $39.99 fee is charged and due immediately even though you can switch from professional to the individual tier.
There will still be fees charged even when you have the individual account that is if you plan to sell and that is why a credit card is required when you sign up for an account. Once the account is in good standing you will be reactivated, make sure to complete the tax portion as well as I see it still pending action on your end.
All accepted credit cards and requirements are listed on this help page.
I hope this helps,
Connor
