UPS return to sender, what do I do now?

We just received a returned shipment from UPS for an order. Here is what the tracking information stated:

UPS tracking states "Package returning to seller because recipient is an unknown person or has unknown address.

Package held by carrier because recipient is an unknown person or has unknown address. Please contact the carrier to update your address information."

Before I contact the customer, I wanted to find out what we can do? Can we get a refund for the shipping label purchased through Amazon? What can I tell the customer? Can I resend it if they give me an accurate address and charge for the 2nd shhipment? This is the first we have experienced this.

Hello @Seller_6H2AF27shMOjd, on the Contact Buyer page, contact reasons are available for you based on the order fulfillment type, status and specific product categories. Issues with a shipping address is considered a critical message to complete a buyer's order, so it should be available.

To contact a buyer, follow these steps:

  1. On the Orders tab, select Manage Orders.
  2. Locate the order that you want to contact the buyer about.
  3. In the Order Details column, click the name of the buyer when it is available to open the Contact Buyer page.
  4. On the next page, select the contact reason, complete the message, and click Send. The above steps do not apply to Canceled Orders. For discrepancies or questions about the cancellation process, the buyer should contact Customer Service using the Contact Us form.
