Effective March 1, Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) removal and disposal fees will be charged on a per-unit basis at the time each unit is removed or disposed of.
Previously, these fees were charged all at once when the entire removal or disposal order was completed. This update aims to give you more visibility into your removal and disposal activities.
This is a charge timeline change only. The fee rates for removal and disposal fees remain unchanged.
No action is required from you. This change will apply automatically to new orders created on or after March 1.
To review your shipment level charges and when units are removed, go to Payments and click Transaction view.

- I guess Amazon feels FBA Sellers would enjoy seeing the money deducted from your account a little at a time instead of one lump sum.
Or...
- Could it be FBA Sellers more opportunity to dispute the individual charges per item transaction.

Wow, this sounds awful.
So now if a seller creates a removal order for 100 items, rather than one notification to track, they'll get 100 separate little ones. I have a hard time seeing why that would be better.

It will be very interesting to track activities of disposal of my items which were categorized as "Vendor Return" in report. Never arrived to me and sold by Amazon on my Generic listing as Warehouse Deals. I was charged disposal fees while Amazon were making money selling my items. Double profit! Support told me Amazon may dispose as they like - sell, donate or throw away. Howerer, I never set disposal for my aged inventory. I have set return for it. But in 2023 Amazon updated return settings and my settings for aged inventory were gone. Accordingly to their rules (if option for old inventory not set up) they should return them to one of my return addresses. I have return address for my inventory returned by customer. If I have this address, my aged inventory must be send to THIS return address - back to me. But 100 items were "disposed" to Amazon's pocket.
I wish we could track path of disposal to the very end. And even so the Transaction history may be wrong as in my case and show you "Vendor Return" instead of disposal.

Does anyone remember when removals were free? When we didn't have to pay $1-2 an item to dispose or donate? Those were the days.
I think everyone wants to know, what in the actual world happened to you Amazon? What was the point of building an FBA program over the course of almost 20 years to just throw it all away?

Thanks for the update and the clarification. The shift to per-unit charging at the time of removal or disposal makes sense and should improve transparency when reconciling charges in Transaction View. It’s helpful to know this is strictly a timeline change and that fee rates remain the same. We appreciate the clear guidance on this matter. thank you
