Hello, I am a new seller for less than a month. I'm not sure I understand the new seller form and how it works. If I write a post now will it appear in the group of new sellers? And only those who can respond?
Hello, I am a new seller for less than a month. I'm not sure I understand the new seller form and how it works. If I write a post now will it appear in the group of new sellers? And only those who can respond?
We are long time sellers and we can see posts in the new seller group, but are not allowed to respond.
I don't know who has access to respond in that group other than forum mods and other new sellers.
The "new sellers forum" is where you get parked and forgotten and at best get a generic copy and paste reply full of links to read that may or may not help you address your actual problem...
I would also advise that you will get more, and more accurate, help most often and quicker by not posting in that New Seller group.
Mods are not sellers and have a very limited, and Amazon only, perspective. They don't, and very often, have never used the services sellers do.
That's just fact ... nothing against them. However it does reflect in the posts they respond to or ignore.
Hi @IQR_Center
Thank you for the question. If you are eligible for the New Seller Community, when starting a discussion within the forums you will have an option to post within the group or in the larger Forums environment as illustrated below. Posting to the larger Forums environment is the default option.
When choosing where to post I would consider the following:
While @Just_for_Play comment is off the mark, we do provide links to resources that are available and these resources go into extensive detail pertaining to the topic of issue at hand. Seller University and Help pages are an excellent resources and we encourage all Sellers to utilize these resources on a regular basis.
If you have any other questions please let me know.
Thanks,
Steve
There are NO SCAMMERS in our forum! Just ALL the veterans that fled the new Amazon forum
A few days ago I started a thread about the new seller and experienced seller response segregation. @Seller_8VJAn210h5JTd, a new seller, posted a valid question about a common situation that arises.
As an experienced seller, I was not allowed to respond to the new seller offering facts as to why the problem exists.
However, a Mod on these threads did respond with the following (links italicized):
I am sorry to hear about your frustration here and the situation you are going through. There are many different factors that come into play and I wanted to hop in and provide some information that may be helpful.
I am dropping some links to very helpful threads, videos, and resources that you can view to help you get started once you are ready.

Now I don't Know about you, but personally, the so called help offered by the Mod is basically useless to the new seller. It is like going to a college class to learn from an expert, and being told, "Go home and read a book".
You may be a new seller, we were all there once, so you are not alone. NEVER post a question in the NEW SELLER CATEGORY if you want an answer.
Yes, those are important resources and they should be the first source.
The forum (outside the New Seller Group) was a place where real life examples are put into practice and information from the resource is applied and the resource expanded upon. This is where the experience of those that actually have to deal with the procedures, rules, and limitations on a regular basis can help teach.
Within the New Seller Group, while it is great that the Community Managers provide links back to the resources, they currently aren't typically providing targeted answers in layman's terms like the experienced sellers (who aren't allowed access to post). The Community Managers don't have years of selling experience like the actual selling community has. If a new user has a question about the resource, you can't simply quote the resource. There must be something extra given.
An example from life:
I had a college professor that wrote the book used in his class. He read directly from this book as his "lecture" and never explained anything without referring back to the book. In his mind, the book was a "perfect" resource. One shouldn't need anything further to pass his class. Unfortunately, not everyone understands everything he wrote. Without help from the teacher's aid or previous students/tutors, who could explain things in different ways and give examples, many would never have passed the class.
Community Managers, you need to be the teacher's aid. You know the prof's book inside and out, but you also have to be able to explain how the pieces and parts actually work. If you can't or don't know how to, that is where the experienced sellers (previous students, tutors, the "smart kids") come into play.
Unfortunately, because of decisions made about the New Seller Forum Experience, almost all of these "smart kids" went somewhere else so that all levels of sellers ask sellers for advice like the old forum.
Said scammers post here regularly and occasionally get to the front page. The main thing I wanted to warn of in my original post is that at least here, Amazon can attempt to do something about it. If you go outside of these forums I think it's safe to guess that Amazon will have a harder time doing anything about those scammers.
But the fact is, they usually don't. I've seen PURE OUTRIGHT SPAM as a featured post on the SS main page remain there for days .. even after being flagged many times. I suppose it stays there because it gets "popular" from all the people complaining about it.
Those should be an instant takedown, or better yet .. filtered before even being posted. But yet this practice by bad actors is gaining some incentive since very little is being done about it.
I don't remember seeing one single spam make it to the featured list on the OSFE. True I could have missed it .. but I check pretty regularly.
