Featured Offer Ineligibility Across ASIN Due to Inaccurate External Price Reference (Buy Box Suppressed)
Amazon has flagged an ASIN I sell under as “not eligible to be a Featured Offer” because it is “not priced competitively compared to prices for those products from retailers outside Amazon.”
After conducting extensive research, I identified the external offer being referenced. The issue is that the external price does not include shipping, whereas Amazon’s comparison does. Once shipping is factored in, the external offer’s total cost is actually higher than many of the offers on Amazon.
Despite this, the Buy Box remains suppressed across the ASIN, impacting all sellers, not just individual listings.
In my case, the inventory was purchased through an authorized distributor on promotion, but even with that discounted cost, matching the referenced external price would result in a substantial loss per unit.
I’ve submitted a case to Seller Support, but the responses haven’t addressed the core issue: Amazon’s pricing algorithm is comparing incomplete data and suppressing the Buy Box unfairly.
Has anyone else experienced this on this or other ASINs? Any success escalating it or getting a resolution? This situation is harmful not only to sellers but also to the customer experience, as it reduces purchase friction and trust.

After weeks and multiple communications with the seller support team, the buy box is no longer suppressed. Let's hope it stays this way. Thank you to the Amazon Seller Success Team for your assistance.
